Numbers

Aah, so; I don't quite have OCD, not all the symptoms, but I do this thing where I have to count to 10 whenever doing something. Though it happens at random. If I don't turn the light on and off 10 times, something bad will happen. If I turn that door knob 10 times I'll get good luck today.

Sometimes, I have to count to 15 just to be sure. I've always thought of it as a harmless OCD symptom. I've been doing this ever since I was a little kid.

But anyways, I'm curious, what is your OCD number? Anyone else have 10?

my ocd numbers are 3, 4, 7 and 11... i don't have to do things 3, 4, 7 or 11 times, it's just that things have to add up to any of those numbers.. like i have to set my alarm to where the numbers in the time add up to any of those numbers so i'll 'have a good day' or whatever :)

I tend to look at license plates and spell out the numbers/letters in my head. My OCD is very very subtle... but I think it's just part of the over-analizing that comes with SA.

I don't know if I actually have OCD but when I'm nervous I look for a series of numbers written on paper or something and add the numbers. I sometimes count things like colored floor tiles when I'm nervous.

I do that -- but I don't necessarily do that when I'm nervous. I'll just add up whatever I can find. It comes randomly though.

i have this exact problem, sometime i am able to count to 4 but if not i go to 8, and then 16. With me the number has to be even and high enough. for example i can never stop at 7. This happens with lights, id usually force myself to stop at 4 so that i am not noticed. open and closing door, walking up the stairs i have to step on certain steps, if i make a mistake typing, getting in and out of bed, using the pause and play button on the virgin +. For me over the years it has got worse.

I ate Chinese food last night.

The reverse side of my fortune from the fortune cookie listed the following numbers:

2 - 4 - 8 - 17 - 27 - 43

My OCD number is 10 too.Maybe because I was born on 10 (March), I'm obsessed with 10 grades (or A)-me nerd.I wash my hands 10 times, I cumb my hair 10 times.I can't stand 9...it's so close to 10 so I feel it causes me trouble.

Even numbers. Like the volume on my TV, I can't have it on an odd number, I just can't. I have an even number of pens and pencils in my cup on my desk... an even number of comic clips and pictures on my wall... just even numbers

Could be a few things. The thoughts that provoke the number counting (to 10) does sound like OCD, a mild case of it at that. They don't neccessairly seem to be intrusive but are bothering.

But likewise it could be a relaxer for you. Many people perform rituals derive what you are describing (order). You may not be nervous nor scared at that given time due to security factor this ritual gives you. It isn't much different then "step on a crack, break your mother's back" sort of deal. You are just doing it for secruity measures due to uncertainty. In other words, normal behaviour, you don't have the slightest bit of OCD.

You could very well be a nervous person.

I constantly seek book page numbers for advice. If first number is bigger than second like "60" - 6:0 than its yes if 06- 0:6 its no.
