Numbers Obsession

Hi I'm new here, but I'd like to ask a question of everyone if I can. Does anyone else get obsessed with certain numbers? I have for years now been obsessed with about 4 numbers. I see them everywhere, particularly on clocks. I will look up for no apparent reason and see these numbers. The worst of the bunch is 13 followed by 26 and 46. To a lesser extent also the number 66. On some days I will see 13 every hour, for example; 1:13, 2:13 etc. I will even sometimes think I have escaped 13 and look up to see 15 only to, say look at my computer screen, TV or something else and see a 13. When I was younger I was certain this was some sort of divine signal but I now know fairly certain that it is OCD. Does anyone else feel almost persued by a number seeing it an unreasonable ammount of times?
Thanks, Dave

My numbers are 2 and 6. Normally 6.
Everything has to be seen or said in 6s. If I look at something I look at it and have to find 6 parts to it, or I'll get really frustrated.
I function normally in sixes. I've changed my seven letter name to a 6, or a 3 (which is 2 parts of 6).
If I can't have something in 6's it's in 2s.
It's weird, I like 6 because it's an even number but at the same time an odd number. If that makes sense?
I alway have the obsession with the word 'okay'.
In my mind I spell it out, and move my jaw side to side.. it's weird and I don't like it.
To make the word in my head a 6 after I've spelt it I'll spell out 'ok' afterwards.

I have this number obsession, even times have to be a 6.
I might have to do something for 6 minutes, 26 minutes or 62.
Sometimes 2's, 12's, or 16 if it's impossible.

When I was abit younger I thought I'd stop it, but it hasn't. I hate it :/

ahhhh i'm crazy with the numbers! lol i've found that a lot of people have 'favorite numbers' or little ticks with numbers, but mine can be kind of extreme...

i associate numbers with "good" or "bad", my good numbers are 3, 4, 7 and 11, or numbers that add up to those numbers.. like my alarm has to be set to a time that adds up to one of those four numbers.. and the volume on the tv has to be or add up to one of those four numbers or things will be "bad".. i'm constantly adding up numbers in times or anywhere i see them, it gets exhausting! lol.. and if i see 3:11 on the clock, and sometimes any other __:11 on the clock, then it's "good" and i'm "okay"

..yeah, it's all really bizarre, lol

I don't have bad numbers or good numbers or anything like that. I do tend to do things in pairs. If I tap one foot, I have to tap the other. Symmetry, I guess. :) My doctor says that it is OCD related. When I'm stressed, it goes even further. If I tap left, then right, I then have to tap right, then left. And THEN I start over: right, left, left, right. It's all about making things even for me.

Two numbers that I swear are haunting me are 3.14/3:14 (which is pi) and 10.13/10:13 (a very popular number on The X-Files). It always seems like its 10:13 am or 3:14 pm when I look at the clock. So weird.

I wanted to quote this part because I can completely understand.

I really like the number 5. Mostly anything that's a multiple of 5. 5,10,15,20... and so on. I swear that 5 is more even than 4 or 6. Drives me absolutely crazy if the number is 1 away from the "even" number. 4,6... 14,16.

Volume has to be in a multiple of 5, clocks in 5's, I have to stop the microwave at 5. When someone is changing the volume on the tv and they leave it on a random number I want to scream, WHAT ARE YOU DOING, omg can you please change it to something "even"? But, that would make me sound weird so I just deal with it.

The only time I deter from this is when I buy fruit. I always buy fruit in threes. There is nothing I have to add up to, it just has to be three of each.

I remember once in the store I decided I wanted to test myself and I picked up four apples instead of three and I wanted to grab another to make 5, but 5 would be too many, so I kept it at four. I walked around the store and ended up putting the 4th one back.

I am not really sure if this really qualifies as an obsession, I just really really like it that way.

I do all those same things. They are all strange to me even though I've been doing them for years. 13 on a digital clock though is the worst. When I see it I'm sure its a bad sign. Even though nothing ever happens. Its frustratiing.

I also am new to this board and my numbers are 4, and multiples of 4 (8, 12,16,20 etc) As with many people volumes on tv's, radios are set to multiples of 4, and almost everything I do is in 4's.

i have a number obsession too, i like to remember numbers and write them all down, and my grandpa just told me about his life with numbers, everytime when he looks at the clock he sees 11:11 or double numbers, he's born on 11-11 too, with lotery tickets he gets double numbers too, like 99-99-67, he was tanking his car and he got 55-55, loll.. my grandparents live on house 66, and the previous houses were 22, and 55... is this coincidence? or is this is bizarre and a real mistery?, when i look at the clock i seem to see weird numbers as well always odd numbers, or with a 4 in it.. and sometimes double numbers too, weird huh? but i like to know more about this :) so i'm still doing research, i like misteries haha
and my favorite numbers are 1 and 6, and 4... :)

Hi, welcome to the forum, I think you'll like it here.

I don't really have a number obsession, but just certain numbers I'm more fond of then others. I like 12, and then 3 & 4 because they make twelve, not 2 or 6 though. 18 I like, which is halfway between 12 and 24. And 24 because it is 2 12's. 36 and 48 for the same reason. Not 60 though. 15 and 21 I like too, and 16 is okay. I don't think I like any odd numbers unless they are a multiple of 3, and really just the 15 and 21. 64 too. I think I like most of this numbers because of how nice mathematically they are, even though I'm sure they're nothing special really.

So 3, 4, 12, 15, 16, 18, 21, 24, 36, 48, and 64 to recap.
