It does.

I'm only 24, but when I was 22 I was in a bad state. Things aren't perfect, but i'm happy most of the time, i have friends, and i go out and am not afraid of making an ass of myself and failing like i used to.... or let me say that i'm still afraid, but that I can actually manage it now.

Things happen in life that will help you make changes.... positive things can happen.

when I hit my 30's I found things abit easier to deal with, I guess I put it down to experience, I found my early 20's the hardest time of all

I learned alot from self help books and then applying it, I don't mean applying it once and then giving up as it didn't work, continuous gruelling betterment....

I guess you guys are luckier than me. Every year of my life has been worse than the one before. I am 28 now.

From my earliest memory, I was a very anxious person. In grade 3 I noticed that around important people I would tense up and be unable to even speak. This is when I started to lose contact with the rest of the group. In grade 11 I noticed that now I was anxious pretty much all the time instead of just during certain social situations. When I was 19 I then developed OCD.

My OCD started off quite bad and has levelled off since but now it is the life experiences that are taking my life further down. As university was extremely inflexible, I had to quit my job and move back home.

Once I finished university though, I couldn't maintain any of the jobs that I tried. Now I have been unemployed for quite a long time.

And everyone lived happily ever after. The End.

Age is just a number, it's how you really feel and perceive yourself which tells you and others how "old" you are in my opinion. Being 23 and turning 24 in summer I actually feel MUCH younger than when I was 17-18 years. Probably because after graduating from high school I realised that I was still nothing but a child and was at the beginning of my life {and still is}.

No matter how old I become I still want to live as if I was 18 years, full of life and fully focused on the future, that which is to come. At the present moment I'm surrounded by kids in their very early 20s and I actually feel younger than some of them^^.

I'm 30 and I think I'm as worse as I've ever been. I think it has gotten worse and worse since my teen years.

Are we talking about social anxiety here?
as it is the SA forum, just that I know other illnesses like bi polar often get worse as you age

For me, its better. I think anxiety gets easier cause we seem to get more numb as get older. We care less, less emotional, less beating ourselves up leads to less anxiety.

Ya true... I dunno... it's hard to tell "what's doing what" these days.

I guess I feel my SA is worse, like everything is worse. I definitely have way less friends, and interact with people less now than I did before.
