Other Phobia's that make life even more difficult...

Does anyone here have any other phobias, which compound their SA anxiety? I have Cynophobia or a fear of dogs. It makes going outside even more nerving than before. Places such as parks and beaches are big no-go zones for me. Dogs+ judgmental people= trouble.

I must say, my fear of dogs is more anxiety inducing than my SP. I would prefer to be locked in a room with a person than a dog. At least you could reason with the person, the dog is always hostile in my mind. If a dog comes up close to me, I gain anxiety/panic symptoms. I hate going to other peoples places, since most of them have dogs. I ring them up before hand (or my family does) and they have to ensure that they are locked up.

My SA is much more subtle. You have a 'gulp' feeling in your stomach in most situations, but I don't have an outright anxiety attack. I wondering whether a true SA sufferer would have the same anxiety attacks around other people as I do around dogs.

I have exactly the same fear as you with dogs. I also find it disturbing that
friends or people say that they will lock them away and then they just let them out like it's funny. What do they wanna do, give me a heart attack? lol

I also feel more fear with dogs than with my SA.

I would prefer to be locked in a room with a person than a dog. At least you could reason with the person, the dog is always hostile in my mind.

This is what goes on in my mind too :D You can run away from a person however the dog will probably chase you ;)

Maybe having a fear of dogs since I was a kid has made it much worse for me, compared to my SA which only became more of a problem since I was about 14.

Well it's not a phobia really, but I have hyperhidrosis which coupled with SA makes my life very hard at times...being a teenager really doesn't help either!

I've got arachnophobia, it's a minor thing though so it doesn't make life hard as such. If I spot a spider I'll usually do stuff that can be compared to shooting sparrows with ballistic missiles though, finding the heaviest thing I can and smashing them to bits. Then later telling my roomie he has to remove the spider-bits wherever I sent them flying since I don't dare to do it myself

I feel that I'm scared of lound things. Music, TV, peaople screaming and such. I feel like such a coward and it really bothers me. I mean my friends are enjoying the loud music around us while I'm scared of it. (<,<) It's no phobia though. (o,o)

SP is one of the very few (probably only) phobia's which can be hidden away inside for years without anyone else knowing. Because letting people know about it could set off the vicious cycle of judgment we are so afraid of.

My Cynophobia simply sets off 'raw anxiety', like every other phobia. Not a lot you can do about it before treatment really.
