Have you ever felt too anxious, depressed, lazy, or just FED UP to face a social situation? I know I have.

So let's fill this thread with motivation to get out of the house. Post inspirational words, videos, audio, pics, links, or anything that motivates you to leave the house.

And then any time we feel like we need some motivation, we can use this thread as a resource.

---

I'll start it off:

YouTube - pendulum - slam

Everything about it just says "**** it!" The lyrics are really powerful - they remind me that I'm part of something so much bigger than useless, boring fears. The music pumps me up and gets me in a positive vibe. And the dancing dude sets the perfect example :D

---

One of my favorites quotes: "It's only after we've lost everything, that we're free to do anything." -Fight Club

This reminds me of all the limiting beliefs I had of myself that held me back. And I realize the more layers I strip away, the more free I become.

my one year of my life when I was blissfully happy and had no idea how good i had it. i want that back. before i had social anxiety, before my panic disorder intruded on my day to day life, and i didn't have agoraphobia, and i had friends and a life and was an interesting and fun person to be around, and took opportunities and had a life that had a point and a direction.
thinking about those times makes me desperate to be better.

"Every passing moment is another chance to turn it all around." -Vanilla Sky

“Most of us live our whole lives…without any real adventure to call our own. What is any life without the pursuit of a dream?” -Vanilla Sky

"Man, I see in fight club the strongest and smartest men who've ever lived. I see all this potential, and I see squandering. God damn it, an entire generation pumping gas, waiting tables; slaves with white collars. Advertising has us chasing cars and clothes, working jobs we hate so we can buy shit we don't need. We're the middle children of history, man. No purpose or place. We have no Great War. No Great Depression. Our Great War's a spiritual war... our Great Depression is our lives. We've all been raised on television to believe that one day we'd all be millionaires, and movie gods, and rock stars. But we won't. And we're slowly learning that fact. And we're very, very pissed off." -Fight Club

"God Damn! We just had a near-life experience, fellas." -Fight Club

"What are you waiting for? You're faster than this. Don't think you are, know you are. Come on. Stop trying to hit me and hit me. " -The Matrix (There is a shitload of philosophy and wisdom in the Matrix, it's just disguised by CGI violence :D)

^Powerful song about existence and embracing reality.

^Powerful song about humanity. My favorite quote from it "Let your heart be wounded, and give no mercy to your fear."

"I guess I could be pretty pissed off about what happened to me... but it's hard to stay mad, when there's so much beauty in the world. Sometimes I feel like I'm seeing it all at once, and it's too much, my heart fills up like a balloon that's about to burst... And then I remember to relax, and stop trying to hold on to it, and then it flows through me like rain and I can't feel anything but gratitude for every single moment of my stupid little life... You have no idea what I'm talking about, I'm sure. But don't worry... you will someday. " -American Beauty

"It's a great thing when you realize you still have the ability to surprise yourself." -American Beauty

When I realllllly need to go out the house (and all other avoidance avenues have been exhausted - lol) I usually just tell myself to be brave, I can cope, that I'll be back home soon enough and I usually treat myself afterwards upon returning - with a freshly made juice or similar as a reward

:) Silly, I know

I also try to listen to upbeat (aka daggy) 80's songs to take my mind off anxieties - seems to work.

“When I was starting out, I used to sit down and write a couple times a week. One day I was watching these construction workers going back to work, trudging down the street, it was a revelation to me. I realized, these guys don’t wanna go back to work after lunch—but they’re going, because that’s their job. Now if they’re able to exhibit that level of dedication for that job, I should be able to do the same. Just trudge your ass in.”

-Jerry Seinfeld

YouTube - Steve Jobs Stanford Commencement Speech 2005

^One of the most powerful speeches I've ever heard. My favorite quote from it: "Stay hungry, stay foolish."

my main motivation is probably trying to find a job, so i can finally have money, so i can finally do something to make myself happy.
some days though, even that isn't a big enough motivation for me to unfurl myself from my usual fetal position on the couch.

There have been times when I have stayed inside the house for weeks on ends. After that when I got out, I found myself loving the sunlight like never before in my life when I had taken it for granted. I suppose that is a motivation.

Moreover, after only going out on weekends for years, when I finally started to go out of the house regularly, it felt refreshing. It was exhilarating, without any medicine like antidepressants causing it. Just being out after staying locked in caused it. Of course, I had to actually do it for a few weeks at the advice of my therapist before I felt such an exhilaration.

Now, whenever I feel reluctant to go out, or when I am anxious when I am out of the house, I tell myself to enjoy the fresh air, the blue sky, and the cars and people moving about. Because even if we don't have this phobia, most of our time is spent indoors at work or at home. And God knows how much time I have spent indoors wallowing in my perceived miseries. It really changes and refreshes things outside.
