Post your random thoughts/feelings etc

She wasn't being mean or provocative, she just changed her mind about something, which everyone does. I might as well just delete my posts if people are going to get all panicky over it.

And new users shouldn't have to prove themselves. This is a place people should be able to come to to feel welcomed and happy and safe and supported, not mistrusted and judged, which is what a lot of us come to escape from. You all know how hard it was when you first came here, and that was without the pressure of having to prove you're not a malicious bully.

Well, yeah, that would be great. I've tried to be really nice to new people too... Thinking that some of them could maybe be a troll just changed my approach to be a slightly more cautious one, I guess...

Actually for me it wasn't that hard, except coyote and someone else scared me when they friended me, lol. It was a quite different 'feeling' on the site, and looking back maybe what Phocas posted had something to do with it... Or maybe it just takes time to get to know people...
I think this site is much more FUN now than one year ago this time... And you have a lot of credit for this too!!

lol nobody thought anyone was suicidal right now, I was just putting it as example of what a troll could (try to) do... (Some people on this site have been suicidal in the past, it has happened, usually for different and RL reasons though...)

Well if you met them elsewhere, they could still be a troll?? (Or have a bad day?)
Okay I'll stop posting in this thread now. I usually worry way too much about way too many people and things lol, and usually things improve by themselves, after a good nap or such...

When I first saw the link to the sports forum I thought to myself ''How bad can it possibly be?''. But after reading it I admittedly immediately thought ''How am I possibly going to trust anyone on this site now? Their posts look so genuine.''.

But when you think about, treating trolls as if they are regular members when they haven't trolled yet is perhaps the better way to go. The troll's thread might be a hoax, but others with the same/similar problem (genuinely), can perhaps take solace in the replies given. A forum thread is almost always more valuable to a mass then for just the OP.

If we were to distrust new members out of fear that they might be troll, then we've already given what trolls want; a negative reaction to their presence. Besides, we need to trust new members to make sure they feel at home here. :3

A troll is only a troll when he/she has trolled, until then he/she is just another member. ;)

I'm probably going to sound a bit stupid for asking this but "whats a troll?".

The only thing I can think of when you mention "troll" is the one that lives under the bridge.

According to the best source on the Interwebs (Wikipedia!),
In Internet slang, a troll is someone who posts inflammatory, extraneous, or off-topic messages in an online community, such as an online discussion forum, chat room, or blog, with the primary intent of provoking readers into an emotional response or of otherwise disrupting normal on-topic discussion.

Trolls are generally believed to look like this:

If you see someone fitting this description, it is your duty as a citizen of this (Social Phobia) World to report this person immediately to your local Remus or coyote.

my cat. <3

one of the ladies in my landlord's family just screamed because she encountered a raccoon as she was taking out the trash.

my cat's response to the screaming/yelling outside: she grrrrrrrrowwwllled.

(she's quite the watch cat. it's kinda cute because she's such a sweet little thing.)

It's quite cool to see some behavioral traces of their bigger ancestors once in a while, isn't it? ;3
