I have OCD and I'm new here, i think its great to have a place where all us bothered people can come.

I always end up taking things the wrong way and dwell on things and taking em outta context believing some conspiracy bulloney. This was always the worst when i let it control my life and just stay inside and not do anything.
But the way to beat it really is just going out and challanging your self and doing as many things you can to use the brain in positive ways, whether its reading lots, getting into hobbies playing video games, sports.

It all helps i find.

Ocd just really is something you just gotta not fall into cause it will just snow ball

I wish ya all well and look forward to visiting this forum

Yes what you said is so true that everyone with ocd has to learn. Do not give in to ocd as it just snowballs to an even bigger and bigger monster. And refocus your brain on hobbies and reading. I read and exercise for hours every day and have modelling as a hobby and I feel like I'm getting better. With ocd an idle mind truly is the devil's playground.

Yeah you said it.
One of the main keys i think too is getting to really understand the OCD disorder and to look at it through context.

It's really hard at first, but once you get spikes, just tell your self that its your OCD. You just gotta except the fact (and it is a fact) that your mind for some strange reason is doing this and to really not dwell and compulsively think about it in your head. It really takes away alot of the anxiety cause as you said OCD really is devistating cause of that snowball effect.
It is sort of hard at first but with lots of practice it gets alot easier. I really emphasise the need to PRACTICE it. Cause really its not the spikes that is the isue, its the compulsive nature in which you obsess over the spikes. That truely is the secret to it all.

Cause life is short, Im only 21 but its really robbed me of my childhood. I can remember it bothering me as far back as 8 years old and really braught alot of pain to my life. So i found the best way was research, cause after so much pain and mental break downs from this thing you just gotta say enough is enough and conquer that shit and for me learning these things ive been better then ive ever been *crosses fingers that it stays that way*

Anyone reading this, as i said the previous post, just do anything you enjoy and try to do it as much as possible. STAY OCUPIED/FOCUSED and really make sure you eat healthy, take some multi-vitamins eat some bread and fruit.

Just for a second say fuck this and try to live life to its fullest capability. Its not easy, it really isnt, but once you get in that habbit (us ocd people should have no problem with habbits Wink ) It really becomes easier and easier. Its really quite simple

The thing about ocd is it can become such a pain that you just get depressed and dont wanna do anything and just sleep all day and that fucks it over too. Because you get so worked up over these intrusive thoughts and it all snowballs and turns to shit and leads to mental breakdowns.
I truely believe this thing is beatable, you just really have to REALLY be determened to retrain your mind.

I cant say im still a 100% done with it but im ALOT better then i was which is extremely motivating and i still plan on kicking it all together. I'd say i have a very mild case of it now while it used to consume my life to the extent of sleeping all day while being completely miserable.

Life is too short to have these disturbing kinda thoughts, cause one day your gonna be 80 lying on your death-bed realizing it was all bullshit... realizing that you werent gay, realizing that you didnt commit any murder, realizing that you didnt die from germs, realizing that your own self was the worst enemy you could have had. And you'll really regret the way it took so much joy of your life.

Your minds your own, Control it, dont let it control you

this is my first time in this forum i have ocd etc but i cant see how you can be so positive about it like its the most normal thing in the world when its not

none of my family have it nor do they understand leaving me feeling alone and that i am a freak i dont go out i fear socialising and fear that if i take up hobbies or feel happy or enjoy myself in any way that i make bad things happen to my family

i am told by therapy that i am a very negative person and i think i agree as i do turn everything im told round to be a negative thing even when maybe its not

the ocd has taken control of my life and every i do i have to make sure it complys to the thoughts i have in my head but then i also have had someone in my life completely control me it what i derseve.
