Without knowing you personally, it is hard to say. Some therapies work for some people and not for others.

However, I feel that it could well benefit you alot if you have been struggling with anxiety and social phobia. Why not give it a try as you really have nothing to lose. Plus, it could help you in meeting a group of people who have similar problems to your own, as they could offer their support and understanding.

I have spoken to a teenage pyschiatrist and it didn't help me really. I was being bullied and felt as if I couldn't cope. Then she tried to talk to me about different issues like me starting college and she said to make friends "you should go and eat your dinner with someone in the canteen" but you can't just randomly go up to people and expect them to like you, they will more likely think you are a weirdo/loner and you will end up feeling more rejected. I just try and cope with my own methods.

Your course might be more effective though, I would recommend you to go on at least 5 visits because the first time you go it probably won't change how you feel much. Everyone is different.

Good luck.
