Recluse, dude! If that is you in your avatar you are most certainly not ugly, and hey your smiling thats good right?. And continuing this congratulations on posting your face online Very Happy, it takes some fair amount of courage for the average SA sufferer. Hopefully I can do so in the future also.

Thanks! I have no problem posting my pic on site like this because it's unlikely that the people here are gonna be judgemental.

What has made you that way?

People in school and college. I was in college and i'd taken my glasses off and a girl told me to put them back on because i was ugly, generally shit off people, topped off by being messed around by a girl.

Some years ago a friend of mine said, when I was saying how ugly I was, "Well, none of us are exactly oil paintings, you know. I sometimes wonder if you've got BDD."

She said it half in joke but now I wonder if she was right - or if I was just being honest...? I think I AM ugly. I have round shoulders (people say they don't notice but I certainly do), a round face, thick eyebrows, small lips, small eyes and my eyebrows are too thick. I'm exactly the right weight for my height and frame but sometimes I feel fat because my two closest friends are very slim. In fact, the only thing I like about myself are the shape of my eyebrows, the fact lots of people have said I have nice skin and a few people have said my hair is a nice colour (I don't dye it). Oh, yes, and I don't like my boobs, I don't really have a figure. Few guys have looked at me twice.

Guys think it's easier being plain if you're female because they reckon you can hide it with make-up and clothes, but I don't think that's true. I can't DO make-up, I just can't, I can't do hair and I'm not much good with clothes either. I think it's more socially acceptable to be a guy and not handsome because everyone expects women to be pretty.

I think my social phobia has a lot to do with being plain (or my BDD, whatever). I don't think you can be socially phobic if you grow up with everyone thinking you're beautiful.

Oh, Recluse, I agree with previous posters - you are far from ugly!

LOL

Even plain females get hit on all the time. If you are an unattractive guy, girls can only like you for your money and even then they don't really like you.

It's true that plain females get hit on.....Because a lot of guys are pigs and want to use girls for sex, and these guys who use girls in this way don't care how they look just that they have another notch on their bedpost which is sad, but genuine guys will hit on plainer girls because they genuinely are attracted to their personality.

Feeling ugly is worse than being ugly. I know an ugly guy whose so confident he gets all the 'luck' in life; beautiful girls, great job etc.

I used to think I was ugly. I look back on those photos and I'd give my left arm to look like I did back then. Wink

That's true! It's how YOU feel about yourself. Looks don't mean shit if you can't even talk to girls. And if you feel bad about yourself than you don't have a hope in hell.

What do other people think of you and your looks? I'm sure there have been girls who have taken a shine to you, so they must find something attractive to look at.

And, in any case, bear in mind that most people caremore about the person inside than the packaging. A girl at work has buck-teeth which she's quite sensitive about, but I honestly can't remember the last time I even noticed it.

Talk to other people about what they dislike about their appearance. You'll be surprised about how petty most of their worries are. And you're probably being equally nit-picky about your own looks.
