A bit about me: 26 mom of two, engaged, to be married Aug 29 (yay! agoraphobic with IBS Confused I have been dealing with agoraphobia since I was about 18, got real bad about 19-22, 23rd year recovery flew to Hawaii even! and now 26 and battling again Sad Anyone here have IBS and agoraphobia? The trigger for my anxiety and fear in my IBS acting up in public and I embarrasing myself Confused

Yes and yes. Have you ever talked to your doctor to see if there is anything you can do for the IBS? Sorry to be graphic but there are days that will go by for me and I will not have a BM then one day I will eat fast food or something and I cannot stay off the pot. It is miserable.
I got married about 5 months ago. I had to lose about 15 pounds to get into my dress. My dad's girlfriend recommended the South Beach diet. I went on it and basically don't eat any refined sugar. I have to tell you that my IBS, gas and all, went away. I was having 3 good BMs a day. It gave me energy and I didn't feel so anxious. You might want to try it for a month and see if it helps.

IBS seems to be a catch-all "diagnosis" that doctors come up with when they don't have a clue. After years of suffering from chronic diarrhea, my doctors also said that I have IBS. Then I stumbled upon a magazine article about fructose malabsorption, which also causes chronic diarrhea. I decided to experiment by cutting fructose out of my diet as much as possible and I have to say that things improved dramatically. I don't have diarrhea any more often now than the average person, and my anxiety about going places has also gone down.

For anyone suffering from unexplained diarrhea, fructose just might be the culprit.

You aren't alone with this one. I have IBS, lactose intolerance, agoraphobia, hypochondria, etc etc etc...
the list goes on and on. I am surprised I am able to keep going.

For my IBS, I use metamucil every day.. plus I drink only soya milk. I reduce the amount of citrus fruit I eat. I also reduce things like garlic, onion, cabbage, bananas and any other gas producing foods. Since then my digestive canal has become quite quiet and normal.

Even if you dont have IBS, I would recommend using metamucil even once per day! It keeps you regular.
