hey guys,
well just to be brief about my story i've had underarm hh since i was 14 years old, i'm 19 now so roughly the most important 5 years of my teenage life (whoopie eh?)i guess i could say i've become somewhat used to it, but like everyone else there have been plenty moments of fustration, anger, etc etc. i work in a retail store so there's lots of really nice clothes, 80% of what i can't wear because of the color or fabric.
but anyways, i've tried both maxim and drysol, both had the same effects. maxim worked for the first couple of days and then stopped, the same with drysol.
now i was just wondering if all products that include aluminum chloride work the same? because if so, then would there be no point in me trying other simliar products like obadan? just wanted to rule out my options..... i went to see my doctor the other day for my annual check up and mentioned my condition, she wasn't too much help, told me to keep on applying the drysol intermittently, but also gave me the option of botox.. now i'm 19, i'm not too sure about injected myself with that kind of stuff so young, but sometimes, this sweating business just bugs the hell out of me. any help guys? do all topical treatments work the same because they're based on the same ingredient ?
Maxim and drysol both contain 20% aluminium chloride, tbh I think the only difference is the brand name. It shouldn't stop working after only a few days. If you're using it on your underarms roll it on at night and dry it with a hairdrier. Do this for a few days in the first week and you should notice a big difference.
I think odaban is more gentle, so it can be used on the face. I'm not sure if it works in a different way or not. I haven't used it myself so im not much help there.
yes i've been applying it to my underarms at night, i think i've basically followed all the instructions correctly, but no it just doesn't seem to work for me =\
thats why i wanted to consider obadan, but if it works the same as both drysol and maxim then i think i'm out of luck.. i've continually applied drysol for a week and still see no difference. when i first bought drysol it worked like a charm, but it just has no affect anymore. i havent tried using a blow drier.. does it really make a huge differenc? when i apply the drysol now i don't feel any stinging or irritation, i supposed thats a good thing except i have no idea if its working anymore! when i first used it there was some stinging and irriration, but not anymore.
Odaban does work differently then the other products, read the info on there website. I use it myself for my hand HH (along with iontophoresis treatments) and its very good. I started using the roll on stuff first but it didn't really work but Odaban was better at reducing it. All I can say is try it, its dead cheap. Maybe you should try the underarm iontophoresis equipment and also use something like Odaban, that would be alot cheaper then Botox.
Are you somehow implying that I can´t afford it? :p Seriously, do you have a link to any long term studies of how botox affects your body in regular use?

I think you´re dead-on correct here. Atleast if you´re talking about non-prescription topicals, and iontophoresis as well. They all have metal ions. You apply them and the effect wears off as your skin is shed.

it's just really disappointing when it works for a couple of days, when your sweating cuts down tremendously and then it just jumps back to normal. i would go through the irritation and pain at night after applying if it could prevent the sweating..
I gotta agree with Hydro, there's no long term effects that have been observed with Botox and I don't wanna be one of the ones to find out that there are negative long-term effects the hard way...
I was approved for Botox but I went and called the podiatrist that I changed my mind on that.
He's gonna look into Iontophoresis but he seems hesitant to write me a prescription for it, stating that I'd have to come in every week to get treatment... which I know is BS.
Seems he just wants me to be a repeat visitor so he can keep milkin my insurance for payments even though I plan to no longer have insurance much longer...
Gonna hear back from him tomorrow so hopefully he won't keep giving me the run around and I can get started on my Ionto treatments.

I think that aluminum chloride has the same effect on all sweat glands, in all people, but if the skin is constantly moist apparently the effective ingredients are washed off faster than they can apply. I tend to sweat more or less from time to time, whether I apply deodorant or not. When the perspiration is moderate, the aluminum chloride powders seem quite effetive. If it gets bad, I must grill the feet with my ionto device.
