I am thinking about ditching the meds and try alternative therapy. There is a Chinese therapy place in the city i work in and i might consider trying that. Has anyone tried alternative therapy?

What do you mean by alternative therapy? Like herbal stuff, or acupuncture, that kind of thing????

I've never taken meds for this. Firstly because I don't like the thought of 'me' being altered. Secondly because I don't have much faith in the docs to see one about this.

Yes that type of stuff. I'm tired of relying on meds to battle my anxiety.

Meds are useless and dangerous. Have you tried Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) yet? It's kinda based on Chinese philosophy and modern science.

i haven't tried that. I'm just sick of having to rely on something un-natural just to try to be normal. Will i get bad withdrawl coming off Citalopram? I've been on it since May last year.

I do not understand why people do not want to be on medicines if they are helping them
I mean, paroxetine has done wonders for me and because of that I want to take it to the rest of my life, despite the side effects
I don't care if it's unnatural or not as long as I don't fell the symptoms of SP

And I also do not believe in alternative therapys, they just do not work for me
They also do not have much of an scientific basis

Why cover up a nasty smell with perfume when you can just get rid of it all together?! I think it's silly to base your entire existence, pretty much, on one tiny little pill.

I've heard the herb passionflower works just as well as some drugs for anxiety. I've never tried it myself so you might want to do some research.

I've recently joined a yoga class for fun. But, it seems to be working for my SA. I don't talk to anyone there, but the quiet, peaceful environment allows me to drop my problems and focus on myself for awhile. I've learned a lot about myself through this. And am understanding that I can't change who I am, only improve myself. You could try that. Aside from yoga, I find that exersize in general helps. When I go out for a long walk I always come home feeling good about myself, and that's a lot of my problem right there. Not having enough confidence in myself! Go for a nice long walk or jog.

That's the point, meds don't help most people at all.

I've already started to wean myself from the med, by taking half a pill a day, and then i'm going to throw them away. I think i will start excercising again when i get the motivation.
