Hi everyone,
It's good to see a site dedicated to people who experience social anxiety.
I'm a postgraduate student at the University of Sydney. In the past, I experienced moderate levels of social anxiety. I was a people pleaser and I tried to please everyone I met. This was impossible. Now, I only care about the opinions of people who are important to me (e.g. family, friends, potential friends, others etc). Everyone else I don't care what they think of me because I am unlikely to see them again. Also, I learnt that it is impossible to please everyone because each person has their unique combination of personalities and preferences. Some people like talkative people, some prefer introverted personalities, others like people who make them laugh, some prefer mature people etc. I still experience mild social anxiety, but, I have improved.

I look forward to chatting on this forum.

Hi Hulkamaniak and Sponglewang,

I hope things work out at university. My advice is to attend and voice record all the lectures. Listen to the lectures again for revision. This is useful when studying for exams especially when a large portion of the exam is based on content taught at lectures.
