Is it normal to feel somewhat insignificant around strangers.. I sometimes feel like everyone is superior to me somehow in maturity, social presense, just how to act.. like i'm missing a part. Is it all in my head?

I think that you are thinking that you are this way, there's probably someone who feels that you are a better person than them. We are all individuals with our own unique values.

I don't know why I think it.. it really annoys me. Everyone says im mature for my age but I sometimes just feel like this, probably to do with my lack of 'social development'.
surely someone mature would have a wider social development. i dont know what u mean by social development, people all socialize differently, some group of mates go cinema, or a quite meal, others like gangs go start fights and smash things up, its their own way of socialsing, that can even mean being anti-social.
Hi Pinker. I know what you mean! I look at different people and think they are soo much further along than I am. And then I feel stupid for it. And then I feel stupid because I am feeling stupid!

It is all in your head, but the problem is, once you put the idea in your head it becomes real to you, and you act as if it were true -- which makes everyone else act as if it is true. And that makes it reality, in a way.
^^ Bleach, you are soo right! Perception is everything and if we perceive ourselves as insignificant we become insignificant. It can be soo hard to change these perceptions, though! And so frustrating!
I did here a cool idea recently though. It was "Act as if... and you will be" So, act "as if" you are confident. Act "as if" you feel good about where you are in life. Act "as if" you are having a good time and eventually, you will be! I know it's a bit rudimentary but, true!
