Hey,

I've only become really sweaty in the past 2 years, apparently as a baby I sweated loads when I slept. First it was my hands, then my armpits then back. I went to the doctors about it and got some prescription anti perspirant, Anhydrol Forte, I used it on my hands and armpits, great success with armpits, not so much with hands, but the hands are the least of my worries. The instructions say, for use on small areas, hands, feet and armpits. So I can't use it on my back? Is there any problems with stopping the sweat? Will I get ill or anything?

Thanks.

Aluminum chloride is safe to use anywhere. Not sure why it says only to use on armpits hands feet etc but I am assuming that's just what it was originally used for and the thought that people wanted to use it elsewhere did not occur. If you look at the odaban website it has directions for applying everywhere.

From the odaban website:

"It is unwise to apply one of the stronger antiperspirants over a large skin area as the bodies temperature control may be affected and the risk of skin irritancy is increased"

Although it's always good to look into side effects, in most cases the manufacturers just name as many as possible side effects they can to cover themselves from hideous law suits.

In this case, aluminium chloride seems to me like it's quite harmless, although it has been linked to cancer.

Still, if it's overheating you're worried about than stop worrying cause that won't happen, and I don't see why it should irritate more either.

I used alumium chloride myself for my armpits some time, it worked quite well at first but then the effect dropped of for some reason. Anyway, irritation wasn't really an issue, but due to the small gains and the link with cancer (even if I don't really believe that) I stopped using it. If it worked really well for me though I would still be using it.

In a while I'll probably be getting botox for my armpits, since that's covered and executed by the medical system now, and that should solve the axillary HH. For axillary HH, I think botox is the way to go almost every time.
