Youre not alone, I often find myself speaking before thinking, and luckily, most of the time, I speak on a whim and my intuition brings out the right things to say. But, of course, I had an incident at work where I made a silly comment that was completely off colour and made everyone in the room silent and brought a deep, awkward silence about the room. The tension in the air was so think I could have cut it. Now I'm always afraid to go into work. Awesome!

If the situation is off the fly, we never think, we just say the first thing that comes to our mind, and it usually is wrong or not related. Then again, you don't want people thinking you are too slow.

However, if it is a situation you prepare or even semi-prepare for, then yes, I think way too much, and so do a lot of other anxious people.

I am completely incapable of speaking before I think.
Unfortunately it doesn't always keep me from saying something stupid.

Just saw this question and in answer, no, I usually think so much that I end up not saying anything at all. Mad

I usually talk some random gibberish which works I guess though can come out a little awkward. I think if I have the time, but in a normal day to day conversation, it should just be natural, so yer, no thinking allowed.

The amount of thinking that I do before I say something has a positive correllation with how many hours I've slept the previous night. Therefore, being articulate and thoughtful during any day I have to work is pretty much just impossible.

I often think for a long time before I say something, but in this instance someone asked me something and I guess because I was tense I just blurted something out without pausing and taking in what had been said.

I do agree with you all though I often think through in my head what i'm about to say and if I should say it. I have a fear that my voice sounds strange as well, so sometimes i dont say anything.

I think way too much before I speak. And even then sometimes people can't understand me, lol.
