Mad World was a pretty nice song but I kinda got sick of it I listened to it so much.
Dust in the Wind is a favorite. The English Ladye and the Knight by Loreena Mckennit is a beautiful but sad song. Not sad as in depressing, just sad story. Forever Yours by Nightwish. Exile by Enya... amazingly beautiful song. The Fiddler on the Green by Demons and Wizards. Further by VNV Nation... awesome song... Who Wants To Live Forever by Queen. I could go on and on.
Hmm it's mood-dependent, but for me it's probably "Hallelujah" by Jeff Buckley. His voice has me in tears half the time. And the fact that he died so young makes listening to it sadder. oo and "Tonight Tonight" by Smashing Pumpkins is pretty sad, as is "Kiss From a Rose" by the legend that is Seal.

I feel like an expert in this area. But it's wierd cause I enjoy listening to this kind of music even when I'm happy. I doesn't make me feel down. It's like a beautiful sadness. Emotional intensity can be like a drug.
Jeff Buckley - Hallelujah
Radiohead - 'creep' and 'exit music for a film'
Eva Cassidy - I know you by heart, over the rainbow (uplifting too) and many others
Joni Mitchell - the whole album 'blue'. 'A case of you' in particular
Schindler's list theme tune
Billy Joel - honesty
Nora Jones - I don't miss you at all
Chopin - Prelude in C minor
Barber - Adagio for Strings
Beethoven - moonlight sonata (though I know it's played to death)
Max Bruch - Kol Nidrei (OP 47)
SAD / UPLIFTING -
THE LARK ASCENDING BY VAUGHAN WILLIAMS.
BACH - LUTE SUITES/ & SONATAS AND PARTITAS
Ok...here it go's....I play the sad stuff alot..even when I exercise:
Cinderella - "Don't know what you got til it's gone". - It's my favorite song ever.
"Heartbreak station" - Cinderella
"Bird on a wire" - by The Neville Brothers...may not really be a sad one to most...but it makes me choke up whenever I play it.
"Drive" - by The Cars
"When you're alone" - Bruce Springsteen
"Tougher Than the Rest" - Bruce Springsteen
"Remember when" - Alan Jackson
"Purple rain" - by Prince
"Rough boy" - ZZTop
"Epilogue for Lisa" - Shawn Lane
"The ballad of Jayne" - L.A. Guns
"I want to know what love is" - Foreinger
"All by myself" - Eric Carmen
"100 years" - Five for Fighting
"All this time" - Tiffany
----------------------
Those are just a few that are a good recipe for leaky eyes for me...but when I am working out...nobody could tell the difference between my sweat or my tears anyway....I probably here most of those a couple times everyday when working out... ipods are great!

Seether- "the gift"
Seether- "never leave"
Breaking Benjamin- "rain"
Evanescence- "missing"
Staind- "epiphany"
Trapt- "bleed like me"
Flogging Molly- "whistles the wind"
Red- "pieces"
Linkin Park- "leave out all the rest"
As depressed as these songs make me feel, I still love to listen to them.
