When did I criminalize it? I never said there was anything wrong with smoking weed, and I certainly didn't say that people do not have the right choose their own treatment. But I DID say that I wasn't interested.

Quetz has all the right to his experience opinion. Marijuana does different things to different people. Although I have to agree with TopHat in that you might have been smoking a real heady sativa strain that made your anxiety worse. A nice indica is way better for people like us. Picking the right strain is definitely a must if you're going to use it medicinally.

You didn't criminalize it, but you did say “then it is not the weed itself that is acting to help anxiety,” and it could treat in “unique cases,” which is not true. And it's that type of disinformation that contributes to its illegality.
And, of course, you are entitled to your own opinion.
I've heard people say that anyone who uses marijuana is a looser with no life and no money. Well i know alot of actors and actresses that use/used marijuana, and they are successful. Brad pitt, jennifer Anniston, bruce Willis, Drew Carey, Montel Williams, Woody Harrelson, Charlize Theron, Michael Madsen, Johnny Depp, Quentin Terentino, Robert Rodriguez, Martin Scorcese, Jack Nicholson, Arnold Szasawhatever, Jack Black, Seth Rogen, Jason Seagel, Drew barrymore, Cameron Diaz. Those are just a few of the long list of just actors, theres more successful people in other professions.
Yeah how about all the professional athletes who toke up in the off-season? I would say that the guys in sports are more motivated and determined than anybody in any other job, yet marijuana naysayers still argue that marijuana causes lack of motivation and focus... Bullshit. Maybe if you abuse the hell out of it these things might happen, but we're talking about medicinal use, not getting stoned off your rocker every day.
I would like to encourage you to visit Democratic sites on some regular basis.
A lot of folks online are organizing to replace bad members of the Democratic party with better folks who are more responsive the "the People" and cannabis reform will be one of those values that reflects a commitment to the people over government ideologies or corporate shenanigans.
Please try to grasp what I have to say and realize millions of responsible Americans smoke pot and want to smoke it without fear of financial ruin from arrests and legal proceedings and without fear of reefer mad cops shooting us for it.
And those millions of people vote, sir.
I strongly advise you to support cannabis reform in all its guises. Support Mr. Franks bill, don't just "keep my thoughts in mind". Stand for Change, sir.
The person and/or political party that fixes this debacle will reap the rewards - such as popularity. It's tempting to work on the GOP about this since they are in such need of popularity, but I am a Democrat - and the Dems should take this trophy for their own.

Mirken also questions the lack of warning about alcohol's relationship to depression, which is completely left out of their new report.
"Data linking alcohol to depression is much stronger and alcohol use by teens is greater than marijuana use," he notes.
Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton have each been clear that they do not see marijuana as a problem in our society that requires federal money and intervention and incarceration. Perhaps this new federal report represents the death throes of a movement that began in the 1930's as an effort to remove hemp rope from the commercial marketplace.
Hemp, the industrial marijuana plant, provides the strongest natural fiber known to man. Dow Chemicals, Dupont and the Hearst Newspaper chain were the biggest foes of marijuana at the time. They funded the movie "Reefer Madness." Today the pharmaceutical companies that manufacture addictive "prescription drugs" are enlisting the federal government's help to produce more fiction presented as fact.
The list of marijuana opponents is different in this century, but the corporate spirit of greed that made it illegal in the first place is alive and well.
