There's this girl, I don't have a crush on her or anything but she is a friend, at least she used to be.
We first met over the Internet through a foreign exchange program. I live in the United States and she lives in the Netherlands, I would spend my Spring Break going to her school and she would spend hers going to mine. She emailed me and we started emailing and IMing each other. There was immediately a connection. I've met only a handful of people as nice as her in my life. The first night we talked she insisted on staying up all night just to talk to me. We would often spend absurd amounts of time on AIM talking; one time we talked to twelve hours straight! And these times weren't filled with small-talk, we talked about anything and everything, from our crushes to politics. I haven't enjoyed talking to anyone as much as I did her, and I got the impression that she felt similarly. She also cared about me, one school-night I was up late talking to her and she wouldn't shut up about me going to bed. I feel bad for refusing now, I think I really did worry her...

It's strange the kind of people we connect with, but I did with a girl that lives thousands of miles away and only speaks English as a third language. All this went on until I actually met her in person. After that she seemed distant. The whole time I was in the Netherlands she didn't seem to want to talk to me. Every time I tried talking to her she acted distant, and would take the first chance she got to get out of our conversation. Needless to say I was heartbroken, I don't really have any friends but I felt like she was one to me, so all of a sudden I was alone again. I just wonder what I did wrong, what about me made it so that she didn't even want to speak to me anymore. After I got back from the Netherlands she stopped emailing and IMing, and when she came here it was just like the first time we met in person. So now she's back home and I'll never see her again, and by looks of it I won't talk to her again either. I wish I could know what I did to make her not like me, like I said I don't really have any friends so this is truly a fluke, which made it all the more worse when she decided she didn't like me.

tl;dr version: I met someone on the Internet, we hit it off, but then they stopped talking to me after we met in person.

Not sure if you did or not.. can't quite tell from the post - but did you try asking her why she's was/is avoiding you? Maybe she misunderstood something that you said or did, or there could be other less obvious reasons.

You're right, I should ask her about it. Unfortunately it never occurred to me to do that while we were in the same country so I guess I just have to wait for her to get on AIM or answer my emails.
