I've been thinking that it would be a good idea to go round the doctrs to get my social anxiety disorder diagnosed properly and getting suitable medication for it. Today has shown that I need to do something about it now other than relying on alcohol to get me through things. I'm sooo embarrassed though, what do I say to the doc? Shall i tell them I think I have SA and talk about drugs such as xanax which I've heared is very effective? I'm guesing he might not know much about social phobia so I hope I don't get put on like beta blockers or something Shocked

Yeah, getting medical treatment is definitely a good idea. Maybe you could see a psychotherapist or psychiatrist instead of a general practitioner. They probably see tons of people with problems like ours, and of course they would be more likely to know what the right drug is.
