I also read some place that a high percentage of total body sweat glands are in the hands. The question then is why don't the hands of non-HH sufferers sweat? I can only think of 2 reasons. 1) Perhaps HH sufferers have the same number of sweat glands but larger pores (genetic?) making it easier for the body to sweat from the hands 2) Perhaps nature as part of evolution suppressed sweating from hands for obvious reasons. But HH sufferers have a chemical/hormonal thing (again genetic?) that just keeps the sweat glands in the hands to continue pumping sweat.

Wondering what you guys think of it?

I think sweating is over rated. I mean I don't think any 'normal' people sweat from their hands for any more than a minute if that each day. They probably only sweat when doing exercise, or when nervous etc. Some sweat glands are needed in our hands to avoid anhidrosis and keep the skin from over drying, but I honestly dont think for a minute we'd miss them if a majority were gone.

Hi guys this is my first post here. I'm a 23 yr old male who is totally fed up of this condition ruining my life. I have HH on hands, feet and underarmsand sometime other body parts as well. I read this post by pinker and i am seriously considering getting electrolysis done, to try n destroy the sweat glands in the underarm. There really aren't that much options available where i live to deal with HH so i'm kinda limited with choices. I have even built a homemade Ionto device (got specs from Youtube.....great find) and at first it really worked. I was so happy with the results i couldn't believe it, this was the first time in ages that i felt "normal", but after a while i found that i got less effective (dont know why). It's been a while since i've done any treatments and i plan to restart treatments today as sweating is completely back to normal again. I also tried building a device for the underarms with aluminum
plates covered with sponge hooked up to a dc/ac adapter (which i thought worked on the same principles as
hand and foot device), but i think i tried it on too high of a voltage 6v and i got burned really bad. Now that my skin is healed i am so desperate that i think i'm gonna restart that as well but maybe on 3v as that didn't seem to harsh.

Alright cutting a long story short i'm a model and i dont have to say how hard trying to pursue a modeling career is with HH, so thats why i'm gonna get electrolysis done on my underarms. Thus far i think i've done a great job on concealing this problem from people i work around, as most of the time when i do a shoot or i'm on the runway i have the privilege of beeing
in air condition. I hate the idea of taking oral meds and i dont have access
to topical apps either and surgery is definitely not an option. I have tried changing diet, eating more healthy, went to docs and it seems that there is nothing to help me.

I phoned around today at different electro places and got info and pricing and what not (it's very cheap here surprisingly). As i type this long post i finally think my mind is made up and i'm going through with this. Tomorrow im gonna call again to schedule an appointment. Hope this shit works.

If you ever go through with this please get back to us on how it goes. Good luck!!

Hey guys, so it been a week since i had electrolysis done for armpit sweating. I got this procedure done on friday and after i did it, i didnt sweat for two days. I had a modeling show that nite and i think that was the best night of my life (where sweating is concerned). Ok on the third day sweating came back but not as much as before, i would say about 45-50% less, then on the forth day i didnt sweat (weird), but after that i sweated about 45-50% less. I had a photo shoot for an advertising agency and i was kinda embarrassed cause i was sweating but i didnt care really. I've made up my mind not to let this thing control my life and determine what i can do and not do, career wise.

Having electro done was kinda painful but i would average it as the same pain as having a tattoo done (not that i had one done before lol). It lasted for about an hour. I would say that im kinda hoping that eventually, after some more treatments, that i can finally be free from Underarm HH. The lady that performed it said that i would have to return for a follow up treatment in about a month, when the hair starts growing back. My hands and feet are really a problems as well but i restarted ionto treatments and they r coming along but i still can't remain dry during stressful situations.

Right now i'm really trying to brain storm and come up with some temporary method to combat sweating, cuz i got something real important on the 19th and i don't want to sweat at all. I've noticed that if i dont get enough sleep i sweat less the next day and if i've had a few beers at night, i dont really sweat the next day.

If anyone has any thing that works for them please share, i'm willing to try any "logical" ideas.

Wow.. that's great!

Could you briefly say how they actually performed it on your underarms? Did they push the stylet in the skin for a few minutes then do another area etc? What did they say when you said it was for sweating? Had they dont it before?

Sorry for all the questions lol. I don't think many people have had this done before.

I'm about to buy a small machine for home use, hopefully it will be decent enough to do the job.

Thanks for the update!!

Ok well it was a pretty simple procedure. She would stick the needle into each hair folicle, for jus a little while, then remove the hair with a tweezer.
After she had removed every hair, she then put some kind of lotion on the skin (don't know if it was a growth inhibitor or a skin soothing lotion, didn't ask). She didnt seem really understanding that i was doing it for sweating. I have 2 schedule an appointment for this weekend cuz the hair is growing back, but its less just like she said it would be.

I have also been using arm & hammer advance 25% & its seems 2 be doing a great job. I did some research on these new clincal strenght antiperspirant & saw where they said it should be applied at night. Now I go out without an undershirt & i'm not that worried about underarms sweating, I still sweat but not that much. I try not 2 do this 2 regularly so my body won't become immune to it. Hopefully with a few more electro treatments & A&H I can finally be free from this ball & chain HH.

Sounds like the kind of thing I need - where did you get it done? Do you know if it can be done on other parts of the body?

Interesting.. thanks for posting again! I was planning on inserting the needle into the skin regardless if there is a hair follicle or not, because the sweat glands are everywhere pretty much.

I'm hoping my device will arrive tomorrow or friday Smile

I've not had any luck with this. The stylet (needle) on the machine is kinda spring loaded, so it's not rigid enough to get through the skin on my fingertips. The few times it has it was damn painful!!!

I've seen there's newer machines with digital/radio waves etc but at £30 they're a bit expensive for a shot in the dark.
