This is a quote from Eddie Vedder, the lead singer for Pearl Jam, about the song Jeremy.

The music video for the song (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yCS_-DshXek) was banned from TV for a while for it's graphic suicide depiction. It was based on an actual event that took place in Richardson, Texas in 1991. A 15-year-old shot himself in front of his classmates. I guess the point is that suicide never fixes anything, and only results in needless loss of life.
