My son is high anxiety and constantly tics. He rolls and blinks his eyes, sniffs, clears his throat, says "mmmmmmm" and he use to do this weird mouth movement. He is now in high school and has been made fun of so now he just replaces one tic with another. I took him to the Dr. for his anxiety/OCD as I suffer from it too, but he refused to talk to the doctor making it impossible for a DX.

I have all these exact tics and like your son, mine morphed as people became aware of them...I used to touch roll my eyes, constantly go to the bathroom to try to pee, then I used to pour water down all the vents in the house because it made me feel safe, then it was a high pitched sound I would make in the back of my throat over and over, and now its sniffing...they drive people crazy...and I change them as I go. Weirdly though there are times when they are worse and that is usually in high stress situations. Does your son's get worse then too? I find exercise really helps over the long-term. I am on a bad spell lately though and it really tires me out. I often have to leave school and avoid tight places with people because I know I will start sniffing. People think I am a cocaine addict. God, sometimes I wish I was just normal.

Are the tics related to Tourette's possibly? I read somewhere that 50% of the people that have Tourette's also have some form of OCD.
