There's a meetup group for the east bay. I believe it meets in Berkeley and Fremont. Then there's a bigger one for S.F. if I recall.

Unfortunately I can't motivate myself to drive two hours each way to make a fool of myself for an hour in the middle.

Maybe if they do something in Vallejo, where I'm more comfortable driving.

If you do go, let me know how it is.

I went to the now-defunct Davis social anxiety meetup group once last year. In short I was by far the worst of the group and they all wanted to move way too fast. Thoroughly humiliating and too scary to go back, though I do agree it was worthwhile to humiliate myself once for the year. I did another social anxiety group with disastrous results in 2006, so I'd better hurry if I'm going to work an utterly humiliating social failure into 2008.
