i have a theory.
do you ever think maybe we feel the way we do becasue england has this whole thing on clubbin drinkin social thing>? and inless your part of it you feel left out?
its known thing about 70% of our nation is in a club on friday nights gettin wankered. it used to upset me that i wernt really into that. but nor is the other 30% i sapose, but how do u feel about it?#
i also think englan is a very 'follow the trend place' wheere if u differnt, ur just wierd, like if u dont drink, you not fun, those sorta labels? what u think?

Nah not really to be honest, i mean a lot of people seem to develop social anxiety before there into going out and getting nailed. And for me personaly, i use to enjoy just chilling getting smashed at mate's with a group of people who all knew each other, rather than going up town and dealing with idiots and mither which sadly 9/10 times would happen up town.

The Uk's drinking culture is certainly massive, and I rarely hear of anything similar anywhere else in the world, not to the extent we have it here anyway.

Evidence to the contrary is welcome!

I'm trying to imagine a society which doesn't put so much emphasis on being social as a comparison but I can't think of any. I always thought it was more unacceptable to be antisocial elsewhere in the world (less developed countries) as in the UK it can always be passed off as a disease of modern living (being generally stressed out and distant). *shrugs*

yeh i sapose. i think alot of it is on the drink in england. i just think its stupid people have to be under a drug to get along and have a good time, knowing that i ent you doing all that stuff, its the drink/drug. dont get me wrong, i ,ove to go out with the girls time to time, but not religously.
maybe its just me n my opinions, i just think its sorta lame

I used to,now i dont care and i belive by not going to these clubs and get wasted in the long run ill have more money and it makes sense not to go,sure people go to socialise but spending all that money just to wake up the next day and not even remember it,sure people have called me strange for not wanting to go clubbing,or take drugs or what ever but this is my life i make the decisions.

I do think that there is a certain amount of pressure in England to be very sociable and outgoing. It seems to me that to be in with the crowd you do have to go clubbing and partying and drinking and be a bit of an extrovert which I am the complete opposite of Laughing Or otherwise people tend to judge you as being a bit different or something of an outsider.

I think what you described goes for most industrialised nations. As an american I know it is Exactly as you just described here as well. If you don't party down on the weekends you're considered a "loser" and if you aren't doing what "everyone else is doing your considered a "freak". Society as a whole is pressuring us to conform to a standard that most find unachievable.

I don't feel like this is that bad in the U.S. for everyone. I don't feel pressure to go out. Most of the people I know don't go the clubs on weekends, because I hang out with people who are down to earth and dont need to party to have a good time. I used to be very self-conscious that I wasn't partying enough, but I decided to look at it differently. I proudly tell people that I do not mind staying home on the weekends or spending time with only my favorite people. Kinda like saying, "Hey I'm more mature than you because I am self-fulfilled."
