I don't visit this group very often - these days I have more problems that have pushed my S-P into the background. Still there, but forgotten.

As well as being S-P I am now blessed with Meniere's disease - and it's just coming upto the 1st anniversary of my first attack. It's a bit worse this last week, I am gradually becoming deaf. Left ear is just about gone, right ear is starting to go, with loud painful tinnitus noises in my ears that makes sleep difficult. And I have difficulty walking because my balance is shot, can't get out much.

I was feeling sorry for myself so I visited my favourite Meniere's forum. The first post I read was from someone with Meniere's, but since she had a blood test her doc has referred her to an oncologist – and cancer tends to run in her family. Sad

Hell, it's a rotten old world isn't it. I don't know whether to laugh or cry.

Johnie.

Hi Johnie - I hesitate here, i can't even imagine what to say. I am sorry to hear what you are going through and again i cannot imagine. I don't know, in situations like this words just seem too flimsy. I may not have anything but i will quote from those who do - with a bit of my own commentary (if you don't mind).

I shall start off with the MASTER - Shakespeare (of course)

"I did never know so full a
voice issue from so empty a
heart: but the saying is true
'The empty vessel makes the
greatest sound' "

* - Loudness is to empty as Silence is to full - we are quite because we have a lot of heart.

"Sweet are the uses of adversity, which like a toad,
though ugly and venomous, wears yet a precious
jewel in its head"

* - Pain need not be the definition of ugliness - beauty still shines through.

"Thou shalt be both the plaintiff and judge
of thine own cause"

* - I shall be responsible for myself in both action and judgement.

"My words fly up, my thoughts remain below :
Words without thoughts never go to heaven"

* - A very eloquent way of saying 'Think before you speak'.

"We burn daylight"

* - I just like this one - the next time someone is wasting my time i'm going to say to them " Hey, you are burning my daylight here "

These are by Voltaire

"Anything to stupid to be said is sung"

* - This guy was way ahead of his time - pop music wasn't even being recorded back then.

"The secret to being boring is to say everything"

* - This would be a good come back to some chitty chatterer who gets on your back for being too quite.

Christina Rossetti

"Silence is more musical than any song"

* - I like this - 'i'm not quite, i'm just being musical' Razz

Back to the master - "I wish you well and so i take my leave,
I pray you know me when we meet again"

And i in my own words wish you well too - i did some research on what you are suffering from - again all i can say is sorry and that i hope you do not suffer from any more attacks and that things get more comfortable for you - flimsy i know but i am at a loss. Take care.

Sonnet XXIX

When, in disgrace with fortune and men's eyes,
I all alone beweep my outcast state
And trouble deal heaven with my bootless cries
And look upon myself and curse my fate,
Wishing me like to one more rich in hope,
Featured like him, like him with friends possess'd,
Desiring this man's art and that man's scope,
With what I most enjoy contented least;

Yet in these thoughts myself almost despising,
Haply I think on thee, and then my state,
Like to the lark at break of day arising
From sullen earth, sings hymns at heaven's gate;
For thy sweet love remember'd such wealth brings
That then I scorn to change my state with kings.

William Shakespeare

Thx Redlady.

Bring out your dead!

LARGE MAN: Here's one!

CART DRIVER: Ninepence.

BODY: I'm not dead!

CART DRIVER: What?

LARGE MAN: Nothing... There's your ninepence.

BODY: I'm not dead!

CART DRIVER: 'Ere. He says he's not dead.

LARGE MAN: Yes he is.

BODY: I'm not!

CART DRIVER: He isn't.

LARGE MAN: He will be soon. He's very ill.

BODY: I'm getting better!

LARGE MAN: You're not. You'll be stone dead in a few minutes.

CART DRIVER: I can't take him like this. It's against regulations.

BODY: I don't want to go on the cart.

LARGE MAN: Don't be such a baby.

You stupid bastard. You haven't got any arms left.

MAN: You don't frighten us, English pig-dog! Go and boil your bottoms, son of a silly person. I blow my nose on you, so-called Arthur-king, you and your silly English K...kaniggets.

He puts hands to his ears and blows a raspberry.

GALAHAD: What a strange person.

ARTHUR: Now look here, my good man!

MAN: I don't want to talk to you, no more, you empty-headed animal, food trough wiper. I fart in your general direction. You mother was a hamster and your father smelt of elderberries.

Laughing

Oh Johnie, some Enya lyrics too......

My, oh my!
She was aiming too high.
He says Adiós, says Adiós,
And now you know why
There's no moon in her sky
- he says Adiós, says Adiós, Goodbye.

No Goodbyes
For love brightens their eyes.
Don't say Adiós, say Adiós,
And do you know why
There's a love that won't die?
- don't say Adiós, say Adiós, Goodbye.

A long, long time ago... I can still remember how
That music used to make me smile.
And I knew if I had my chance,
That I could make those people dance,
And maybe they'd be happy for a while.

Smile
