I have really curly hair and just tie it into a pony tail every single day. But somtimes, I take the time to straighten it and I wear it down at school. I know people have noticed and they've said nice things about it. I think that whenever I straighten my hair and wear it down and out, it makes me feel good on the outside. That leads to me liking myself on the inside. I'm going to straighten my hair more often to feel better about myself. Has anyone else felt this experience of feeling better on the inside because of what you look like on the outside?
it helps me i guess. i totally changed my image in the last 6 mo...now i kind of stand out...about a year ago i never wouldlve been able to do it...i preferred to blend into the crowd. its hepled me build some confidence. i actually like the way i look and the way i dress.

Same here. i dress really punk/ goth and completely stand out from everyone else. but i like dressing the way i do and i had wanted to do so for years, but only had the confidence to last year. it makes me feel better bout myself knowing that i look different. and even though i know people are looking at me, it doesnt bother me as much as it used to because at least now im giving them something to look at!

No...I used to think that if I were pretty, more people would like me or whatever...but now I think even if I were perfect-looking(like Angelina Jolie or somebody like that) I'd still feel like shit on the inside, because of my horrible personality. I might as well just die--that would be my only way out of this shitty feeling.

You don't have a horrible personality. You're really pretty and you're a nice person, I think pretty much everyone here would agree with that.

LittleMissScareAll I know you probably wont believe me but your such nice person with a sweet personality. You help me when I first came here.Wish I will always be grateful for.Don't be so hard on your self.
Will changing the outside make you feel better on inside.Yes and no.It won't solve your problem but it can help with your self esteem to feel proud about how you look but you will still have to fix what's wrong on the inside. It's more of a tool to help you get better.
