"Do not let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God; trust also in me." John 14:1
Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me." John 14:6
All this I have spoken while still with you. But the Counselor, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I have said to you. Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid." John 14:25-27
i shall stick to the big bang theory, religion is just an excuse for an answer to why people are here. religion has no space in my life thanks, but i do stil respect people of their own views
Jesus also said:
"The spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he has anointed me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners and recovery of sight for the blind, to release the oppressed, to proclaim the year of the Lord's favor." Luke 4:18-21
"If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples. Then you will know the truth and the truth will set you free." John 8:31-32
"Jesus replied, "I tell you the truth, everyone who sins is a slave to sin. Now a slave has no place in the family, but a son belongs in it forever. So if the Son sets you free, you willl be free indeed." John 8:34-36
I like the one that Jesus says to, "turn the other cheek". Don't remember exactly but basically if somebody slaps your face, turn the other cheek for them to slap. I suppose that is literal and figurative.
Not exactly upliftying but interesting to think of the type of person that could live that way.
Here some good parables for you Remus, although really almost everything Jesus spoke was a parable! LOL.
This is the parable of the lost sheep.
"What do you think? If a man owns a hundred sheep, and one of them wanders away, will he not leave the ninety-nine on the hills and go to look for the one that wandered off? And if he finds it, I tell you the truth, he is happier about that one sheep than about the ninety-nine that did not wander off. In the same way your Father in heaven is not willing that any of these little ones should be lost." Matthew 18:12-14
This is the parable of the wedding banquet.
" The kingdom of heaven is like a king who prepared a wedding banquet for his son. He sent his servants to those who had been invited to the banquet to tell them to come, but they refused to come. Then he sent some more servants and said, "Tell those who have been invited that I have prepared my dinner: My oxen and fattened cattle have been butchered, and everything is ready. Come to the wedding banquet.
But they paid no attention and went off--one to his field, another to his business. The rest siezed his servants, mistreated them and killed them. The king was enraged. He sent his army and destroyed those murderers and burned their city. Then he said to the servants, "The wedding banquet is ready, but those I invited did not deserve to come. Go to the street corners and invite to the banquet anyone you find. So the servants went out into the streets and gathered all the people they could find, both good and bad and the wedding hall was filled with guests." Matt. 22:2-8
Jesus said," I am not possessed by a demon, but I honor my Father, and you dishonor me. I am not seeking glory for myself; but there is one who seeks it, and he is judge. I tell you the truth, if anyone keeps my word, he will never see death." John 8:49-51
"Therefore Jesus said again, "I tell you the truth, I am the gate for the sheep. All who ever came before me were thieves and robbers, but the sheep did not listen to them. I am the gate, whoever enters through me will be saved. He will come in and go out and find pasture. The thief comes only to kill, steal and destroy; I have come that they may have life and have it in abundance. I am the good shephard. The good shephard lays down his life for the sheep"
John 10:7-11
" The reason my father loves me is that I lay down my life--only to take it up again. No one takes it from me, but I lay it down of my own accord. I have authority to lay it down and authority to take it up again. This command I recieved fr. my father." John 10-17-18
