when we stress out all day, it creates chemicals between our ears that need relief through REM sleep. this sleep doesnt replentish as much as deep sleep, so we wake up tired, get angsty and depressed again, and the cycle continues.

to break the cycle, change your thought patterns....dont think shit.

Whenever I have work in the mornings, I always wake up numerous times during the night. It's almost as if I don't trust my alarm clock to go off (!!), and am scared about being late for work. Really hating my job and the fact that it stresses me out doesn't help either.

Ugh. Sleeping problems have been a part of my life....well, for my whole life! I take meds before I go to sleep and that has helped, but even medication is not enough when I'm seriously stressed out.
What I've noticed though, is physical exercise plays a huge role, and I'm not a sporty type of girl in any way. Smile But if you jog a mile or ride your bike, or actually just move around more than usual, the sleep you get is much better.
Also, imagery. Maybe this is weird, but I just imagine a nice relaxing place and try to dream myself there, and before I know it, I'm asleep.
When all else fails, watching some Cartoon Network, or the Weather Channel distracts me from panic attacks. Oh yeah, and the History channel. That'll put you to sleep. Very Happy

Thanks for the tips. Yes, I wake every morning with anxiety, maybe it's the sleep or the thought of a new day? I think I will try some of those breathing techniques.
