Hi Pinker

Sorry but I never got to read your reply to my last thread in ESFB. Anyway, Gina Kavanagh replied to my mail today:

Quote:
I'm confident that Botox can be delivered iontophoretically, but getting it to the stage where it is practical in a clinical setting is the major hurdle. We tried soaking nylon and cotton gloves in Botox solution after pre-blocking to prevent non-specific protein binding of Botox to the gloves, and then treating on standard ionto.units, but that was'nt effective. We have tried Iomed gel sponge delivery pads also with little success. We think binding of Botox to the gel may be a problem as it does appear to preferentially bind to whatever medium introduced as a means of keeping the Botox solution in contact with the skin. The small resevoir worked as it involved solution only and you only have 5mls or so to work with. What kind of iontophoresis device do you have?

Regards

Gina Kavanagh

Yes I just got that email myself. It sounds interesting but lets keep our fingers crossed they can get it to work especially with so little solution as well that could reduce the cost if the treatment is eventually made available? I hope so.
