Hello all,
I know very well what you are all talking about with regard to excessive sweating in the buttock area, and I want to post some information here that maybe you have considered and maybe you have not.
I was recently reading an article (I think it was on the internet journal of medicine or science) entitled pilonidal sinus and prolonged sexual stimulation: the poisonous hormones. It was addressing a disease that kept recurring in patients, despite numerous treatments. You can google the title to read the article for yourselves. I'm going to attempt to sum up the article, as it relates to excessive sweating in the buttock area.
Now before anyone gets worried, the reasearchers (doctors) did not suggest that excessive sweating in the buttock area is the same as pilonidal sinus disease. It is NOT. However, the article does go on to say that the cause of the disease WAS excessive sweating. Pilondial sinus (PNS), by the way, is characterized by inflammation and abscess. It happens when hair follices are attracted to sweat in the orifices (glands) found in the buttock. So, if you don't suffer from these symptons, then there's no cause for concern as to whether you have the disease or not.
The good news is that the reasearchers also suggested that the disease, AS WELL AS EXCESSIVE SWEATING, are preventable. According to these researchers, what triggers excessive sweating in the buttock area, which is the cause of PNS, are hormones (called androgenous hormores: e.g. testosterone), which regulate or have an effect on the sweat glands in the buttock area (the glands in this area are called apocrine glands). In other words, buttock sweating is caused by prolonged sexual stimulation through actitives that have often been long igorned (e.g. viewing sexually stimulating movies, websites, books, magazines, perhaps activity, etc).
They also noted that sexual stimulation is different for everyone. Some people have a lower threshold (starting point) than others. For example, males are more easily stimulated, since they are visually stiumlated, than females. Nonetheless, sexual stimulation varies between genders and within genders. This variation, I think, explains why some people have excessive sweating in the buttock area and others do not, regardless of weight, height, age, race, etc.
They found that the subjects (patients) they treated did not have a recurrence of pilonidal sinus disease when they simply, get this, CHANGED THEIR BEHAVIOR. They took the advice of abstaining from sexually stimulating activities that caused these hormones to have an effect on their sweat glands. After a period of time, they were free of the disease and obviously excessively sweating. Only one subject (patient) continued to have recurrence and problems with excessive sweating; this was because he was unwilling to change his behaviors.
In case you were wondering, such conditions, they found, were extremely rare for married couples, since they, for obvious reasons, have a much lower threshold of sexual stimulation. It is singles that are most often affected. One example of a married person with the condition was a female whose spouse was far away at a university.
Well, I thought I should put this out there for consideration and comments. Comments of assent or dissent are both welcome. The article made a whole lot of sense to me, and I hope others assess it in light of their personal experiences. Could excessive sweating in the buttock area be caused by prolonged sexual stimulation? I'd be interested in hearing your comments. We're all here to help one another. Stay strong and God bless.
P.S. Hope I communicated all this very simply and clearly. If I didn't, I'm sure you'll understand perfectly if you read it again a few times.

not that i have this condition, but has anyone tried bond's gold powder? Much like talculm powder, but i believe it helps absorbs the sweating. Maybe somebody should invent sponge underwear.

the first time I post anything here, but i really feel relieved that I'm not the only one having HH or a sweaty arse =P. I just recently started thinking that maybe there's something actually wrong with me, instead of just thinking that i sweat a lot. It didn't take me long before I found out about hh and so on, but there's one thing I'd like to ask u more experienced ppl: Do u feel like its rerally hot when u sweat or do u just sweat anyway? Maybe it's a stupid question, but I think there's a slight difference.
I read the comment about PNS, and it seemed logical (My arse started sweating like hell when I got into puberty and naturally intrested in the other sex), but I didn't find any practical guide-lines for how to prevent thinking of sex... correct me if i misunderstood the post, but that's what ur supposed to do in order to prevent HH in ur "dark"-areas, right?
Then I'd also like to know wheather or not this is a temporary thing, as in will it stop when I'm like 30 or so (im 17 now)? It would be something to look forward to since having to live with this really makes dating and shit hard.
