6 months ago i went to my doctors to ask what i could do to help stop my hyperhidrosis. he offered no treatmrent or suggestion where i could get it and just simply said "there is no cure, there is nothing you or i can do about it". and then i lost all hope.
Do i ask advice from another doctor? are there any sweat specialists i can contact? do i spend lots of money on underarm products similar to Driclor? i dont want to just not bother, i want to try and do something about it as its affecting my life very negatively.

does hyperhidrosis naturally stop or will i have it till i'm old and wrinkly? it started when i hit puberty 6 years ago, when will it be expected to stop?

i'd really really appreciate any comments you leave. i need some help very badly and there is not one person i can talk to about my problem, not even my family. i'm too ashamed...

thanks

in my opinion being ashamed of having this problem is one of the core issues you have to solve. just this alone is 30% of your problem. cos shame creates repression.

think of your problem as a legitimate suffering, which didnt you cause. let up some tension over this problem. talk to your family or at least at one member and explain the problem. important is that this person is a sensitive person. this is the first step toward healing

this you can do so do it

To Cutefluffy(kisses in advance), your words reminded me of this song of Bush - Jesus Online:)

To Grissom, I suggest you check out ETS-C. A surgery that consists in clamping the nerve that interacts with the sudoriparous gland, responsable for the excessive amount of sweat. As said on one of my posts, in this documentary a surgery was performed and the results were immediate. The procedure is reverseable. I know nothing about the side effects. I just know that there's hope. I'm sure that much more and better informed people will reply to this. I'm kind of first-aiding.

Lyrics
Whatever she wants from me
Whatever device
Whether in kindness
Whether in spite
What can i say
What can i do
I can't help myself
I let the monster through
Wherever she sends me
Wherever the plane
Perfect black dress
Perfect grave
What can i say
What can i do
I did it to myself
I did it all confused
Jesus online
Wires around the world
Feel invincible
Computer car and girl
Jesus online
Wires around the world
Feel invincible
To be perfect just like you
To be perfect just like you
Whenever she comes with me whenever we break
Dress up my apathy pretend we're great great great
Jesus online
Wires around the world
Feel invincible
Computer carbon girl
Jesus online
Jesus online
Jesus jesus jesus
Jesus online
Arms around the world
Feel invincible
To be perfect just like you
To be perfect just like you
Jesus (jesus online) jesus
To be perfect just like you
To be perfect just like you
To be perfect just like you
(Arms around the world)
Perfect just like you
(Arms around the world)

Your doctor sounds like an absolute moron. It's true there's no 'cure' as such (it depends) but there's a few things you can try, as opposed to "there's nothing you can do".

Where is it that you suffer from sweating mainly?

Definately go and see another doctor! There are lots of things you can try which might help. You could try special deodeorants (sp?) like Driclor, Triple Dry, etc. If they don't work a doctor will be able to prescribe you tablets, or recommend you to a specialist who might offer you botox or something.

Don't be ashamed of it, if you can't talk to your family, find another doctor you can talk to about it.

Don't give up :]

From what I know, surgeries and operations for HH, excessive sweating, whatever, can be expensive and have side effects, perhaps not right away, but later down the road.

Surgery for hyperhidrosis should be used as the last resort... Think about the actual process, you're cutting your nerves! That can never be a good thing. Try different products and other treatments before you resort to surgery, which has tons of possible complications.

For more info, check out these links which has definitions, research studies on surgery for hyperhidrosis and much more.
