Hi everyone and anyone who reads this Im very appreciative. Im new to this web site and feel that ive been suffering from sa nearly all my life. When im faced with situations I find difficult ,like performing( Im a struggling musician) I throw up, and as you can imagine this is v. embarrasing. I was wondering if anyone else ever gets this and if anyone has found a way to deal with it. Im also looking for friends on here so if anyone wants to chat then email me. Thanks for reading this again. Milk

Hello Milk. There are group therapies to help people to face their fears "to be on stage" in front of the audience, maybe this is your case. You can also try some relaxing exercises, maye it helps too.

hey, i kinda suffer from that nervous vomiting, but for me is the pain b4 being sick when i try so hard to try not to vomit, the pain from this is so back psyically and mentally coz i always think wat will people think about me if this happends an im gona b so embarassing. while psyically i cant stand the feeling b4 im sick i try not to eat much coz just feeling my stomach full reminds me of this feeling its not gud, even drinking spirits or fizzy drinks does this an i cant stand it. im harldy ever actually sick coz i normally either focus myself to think about sumin else which only lasts for so long or i avoid the situation but that will b kinda hard for u.

since u cant avoid it then u just hav to focus on playing gud, or another thing that helos but aint so gud is passing your fear onto sumin else. since people think about their fears the most then it is gud to find another fear to get your mind of the other fear. like now in exam halls instead of me thinking oh no i feeling sick, i now think ahh my stomach is gona rumble an it always does all the time an this is very embarasing but i got over feeling like im gona vomit in that situatuon now, so u got to take the gud with the bad. its not the best solution of couse but hey.

I used to have this, I am a musician too and used to perform onstage.

I used to deal with it by either not eating for a few hours before a gig and just sucking a sweet.

or I used to have a couple of pints but that used to impair performance, the normal guys in the band would sometime throw up too or have the runs, so its not always a SA thing.

I found chewing gum helped too.

Exactly the same here, and like I said in another thread, that's why I avoid eating out, coz as soon as I get something in my stomach, it's gonna come straight back up. I try to think about something else but man, it's so hard to change your thinking process after you've been thinking a certain way for so long.

Yeah i suffer from this and if i know i'm going out anywhere like shopping or taking my son to the park then i don't eat so i know i haven't got anything to throw up. I don't eat when i'm out anywhere either cos feeling food in my stomach starts the panics off and then i'm a mess again. I'm so glad i'm not the only one who feels like this, for a long time i've felt i was alone in this.

Feeling nauseous when anxious is very common. Many actors, stage performers, musicians, even sports stars vomit (and sometimes get the runs badly) before taking to the stage/field. People with SA tend to find more situations to be anxiety provoking so get sick more often.

I used to have this problem real bad (like every day), especially when eating out, but after a few years, it eventually passed.

Cooper_S_Wrks, how did your date go? I hope you didn't vomit, or at least not in the presence of your date. I also get the lump in the throat thing real bad - it's my worst physical symtpion of SA, I am continually gulping nervously when in SA provoking situation - I just can't shake it off Sad.
