I am the original poster.

I'm sure people are correct to say that benzo addiction exists and has horrible withdrawl.

I have looked at some of the information pamphlets about these medicines and they all say that they should not be taken for more than 7-14 day consecutively. Since I don't intend to use them for longer than a day or two I doubt it will be an issue.

I drink (and have sometimes used other drugs) and enjoy it alot but have never been tempted to use it excessivly... so I don't think I have an addictive personality.

i find that a low dose taken often 10 mg helps me just feel normal instead of a jittery wreck all day. i don't find that they help me in panic episodes. would you suggest i take more on those rare occasions i am in panic mode? i don't take them everyday but would love to as they are such a lifesaver. my dr won't give them to me like that since she says they are addictive. i feel she should allow me to take them daily as long as she monitors me and makes sure i'm not taking more than i should because honestly they really help. i just want to feel normal and not crazy.

I have used valium on and off for many years. I have not taken any at all this year but I keep some handy in case of emergencies. For several years I took 15 mgs per day. That was before aropax came along. There is no way that I could have held down my employment at times in the past (and admittedly pre aropax) without valium.

It is interesting to read about the difficulties of giving benzos up because personally, I did not have any great dramas in doing so. It has good antianxiety effects so I guess that it made it easier to give up the valium and also easier to get by.

Perhaps different people have different reactions in terms of withdrawal.
I am certainly aware that Doctors in Australia are now - I believe - quite reluctant to prescibe them (benzos) after they were once too easy to get a hold of.

the bottom line is that they are the best known meds for treating anxiety... unfortunately its also quite fun to get a lil effed up on them.... but if your doc only gives you a certain amount each and every month, the chances of abuse are slim.... anyone can go out and get street drugs, but thats not the point, its unfortunate that we should be denied what is otherwise the best known "quick fix" for what we suffer from....... fuck it, Im going to be on meds the rest of my life, I dont care if Im addicted to something that gets me through the day.............. did I mention its fun to get effed up on them???? lol

Shocked I have been using Xanax about 3-4 times a week for a year. In my case, and in most cases with people who have a clinical anxiety disorder, addiction is very rare. Unfortunately, in my case I have been building up a tolerance to it. I started on .5mg and now need to take 2mg to get the same effect. My Doctor has now prescribed Risperdal (mainly used as an antipschotic) however it appears some doctors seem to think they maybe used as an alternative to Benzo's for treating social anxiety.

Woah! Triple post!

Laughing

I've been using xanax for a few months now and so far I've taken about 12 1mg tablets in total which I don't think is very much in th espace of 2 or 3 months. They have made some difficult situations much easier for me and I am so glad I found this little wonderpill, but the down side is I get very very tired and have no energy for my workouts and a noticeable lack of motivation for most activities. I take 0.5mg about an hour before a difficult situation arises and it usually gets me through it with very minimal anxiety. Things like work meetings, trips to busy cinemas, interviews etc would be thr type of event I'd use xanax for.

I'm also desperately trying to find clonazepam from somewhere without prescription so I can try it out as I hear its alot better than xanax. If anyone can help me I'll be more than grateful.

I just wish they's invent a drug that acted like xanax, but without the tiredness, and without the addictive qualities and that won't cause your body to build up a resistance. I know that's asking alot but I have my fingers crossed.

Dependance and addiction can be used in the same sentence for any Benzo.I have relied on them for years of course with a Doctor's prescription.Xanax seems to be the one that tolerance builds up pretty quickly too.I also was prescibed Klonopin and it is not better then Xanax or any other Benzo.I think its the dose and how frequently it is taken. They say Klonopin is one of the least addicting Benzo's but i don't believe that. They have helped me through alot though in my life. For me i think I definately needed them for my type of personality.I would not reccommend them for people who use them in the wrong way.
