For those of you that have a somewhat milder case of it (one or two close friends as apposed to none)

For me it seems like the only friends I make are with people that are overly insistent upon you doing stuff with them. For me it turns out that they are confident people and not judgmental. At the same time, my few close friends seem to be some of the nicest people and for that alone I am thankful for my SA/AvPD plus I think they are the only reason my AvPD isn’t worse then it is..... anyone else think this?

I agree. I've never had more than one close friend at a time and it's been a long time since I could really claim that. There are a couple of people I really like and with whom I have tried to develop friendships. They are both much more outgoing than I am. I am grateful when they do pay attention to me, but it's not consistent enough to make me feel safe. There are too many times when they aren't sensitive to my feelings at all and oblivious to the fact that I am hurt, whether by them or someone else.

I sometimes read in this or a similar forum where AvPD people wish they could meet other AvPDs. I don't think that would be as good as they assume. I think a sensitive outgoing person is what I need.

Well i know someone who has avpd and i know the feeling of being persistent with them. As hard as this may sound and even harder to act upon you must tell someone who you think is sensitive how you feel. Like i annoyed this person before i didn't have any idea about it and she just avoided me Sad Like erm im a sensitive person but i need to know when people are hurt and why because you will just lose a friend because of it.

(btw i cant post a new topic so i will post my post onto this post (can someone edit it so it is a seperate topic because i have no idea how i can't post a new topic) lol thanks Smile
