Avert/Secure/Robinul Experience - this could finally be it!!

Hi Amy!

The pills being discussed are Avert in Canada, Robinul in the U.S. The wipes (in Canada, anyway) are called Secure. The med in each case is glyccopyrrolate, and it's worked wonders for me and many others.

In Canada it's OTC, but as far as I know you can only get it through pharmacy.ca Go on to their website for more information.

So it seems that all orally taken medication causes dry mouth - is it also the case with Secure Wipes?

I already suffer from dry mouth (not from any medication, it's just something else I have to put up with along with severe facial hyperhidrosis)

What are the experiences with dry mouth among those of you who have used the wipes without the tablets?

Hi,

I find that 2mg of Avert gives me dry mouth which only bothers me if i have to speak quite alot (eg in a meeting etc), i find regular sips of water helpful. I have found that the effects of just 1 2mg pill affect me for about 2 days!

I do not get any dry mouth with the pads (3mg)

Since I've posted earlier, you know I've had great success with Avert, which I've been on for over a year.

But along with HH being weirdly individual, my reaction to the pills varies. I take the same dose each day (or at least if it's warm and/or I'm active). Yet some days I have NO dry mouth reaction, and some days it's really annoying.

It's never so annoying that I'd return to pouring sweat from head and face, though. Just wondered if others have this variety of responses.

Yes i used to use probanthane in my younger years, before i had ETS. It was effective for only a short amount of time (pills did not do anything after about 9 months), plus i suffered badly from one of their side effects - i had difficulty 'passing water'. Also they seemed to stop me sweating completely, so when i got hot i would start to feel ill and go as red as a tomato! Embarassed

I have only just started using the Avert pills and wipes. I find that the wipes are not very effective, as after ETS my problem is general all over sweating which cannot be targeted with a wipe. I only use a pill (one 2mg) when i konw that i am gonna be in a 'sweaty situation'. The good thing i have found with this dose is that it does not stop me sweating completely - it just reduces it to what i would guess a normal person has ie i can be in a meeting etc and not sweat, but if i run on the running machine at the gym i sweat, but not enough to soak my t shirt.

I have found that the performance i get from the tablets seems pretty consistent, however they rely on having an empty stomach - so i can vary the degree of performance of the tablet by how soon after eating i take it

The original post is similar to my experience. Most of the roll on stuff does not react well with my skin. I use avert and have secure wipes on standby for special occasions (as they are too expensive for me to use every day).

Happy with Avert...just hope they keep their costs down. Razz

After reading all the positive reviews, I think I am going to try to get a prescription for Robinul. Does anyone know how much it costs in the US and if it is covered by insurance? Also, is it sold in generic form under glycopyrrolate?
