Hi. Just wondering if anyone here has tried any sites like eHarmony, match.com, or even craigslist I guess, or any other sites like that. If so, how did things work out? Did you meet the love of your life? Was the person completely different from their profile? Did you get your kidneys stolen? Inquiring minds want to know!

For the record, I'm 22 years old, and never been on a real date before, so I was wondering how this online stuff works out.

I have only once clicked the link of a dating site out of curiousity. Checked 30 pages with 10 girls on each in my age. I found 3 of them to be a tiny bit interresting.

Yes, that is often a problem. I've also heard that quite a lot of profiles are just spam, or are just automated things that phish for personal info.

Hey! I joined this site, because of the guy I met online. We met in a chatroom randomly began to talk and things worked from there. We have been hanging out happily since Feb of this year! He is wonderful, so in a since I would say we both got lucky with online dating. It was something very new for me, I had never in my wildest dreams thought I would meet someone online, but I did! Plus, I've read alot about people who meet online, it helps build a strong communication, because typically, you do spend ALOT of time just talking, especially if you live a little ways away. Hope this helps some! I'm sure you will find your special someone soon! =)

Hate to sound cynical and bitter, but online dating never never works out, you just don't know who you're talking to, he could wind up being a pig Confused (or she)

I have to disagree, with online dating never working out. I worked with a lady who met her husband online, and they have been happily maried for 5 years now. I met my boyfriend online, and have been happily in love from the moment I met him in person!
I do know there are alot of creeps and wierdos out there, so with online dating you do have to be extra careful and take precautions. But I do believe that online dating is more common and more accepted now then it has been in the past. Dating sites are constantly checking profiles and doing their best to check up on the people on the sites.
Hops this helps, and not trying to start any drama and disagree with people. I just want you to know there is hope in dating online. =)

I almost always have a good experience with the people I've met on them. So online dating never working out is not always true.

I might try an on-line dating agency in the future.

My biggest fear is if I decide that they're not the one for me, that I would end up stringing someone along due to my inability to say no/ reject people.

yea man, same here!!!

I tried eHarmony....met a nice girl....they have a special communication process to protect you and let you ask certain questions before you get too heavy....we got on well, met up for a date, it went fine, I didn't really feel anything for her though so I let her know by email a few days later that she was nice, but not for me.

I've just recently started using this other site though called okcupid.com and I have to say it is a LOT of fun! I'd definitely recommend it....just for a laugh if nothing else....it's free and there's a fairly large community.
