We don't need moderators, we need therapists.

actually, a moderator is very important on this site. It should be someone who's online a fair amount, responsible, honest and fair. I believe the duties would include monitoring the site, just to oversee everything, be of assistance if anyone needs help, and make sure people follow some pretty basic rules. They would make sure posts were not abusive to other members, name-calling, violent or racist in nature..stuff like that. This should be pretty straight forward to most, but, as we've seen lately on this site...is not followed by everyone! To say that we don't need moderators on this site is inaccurate...have you seen the bullshit that has remained on here..verbal abuse to other members, extremely violent images, porn sites, explicit sexual talk and racism..shit like that doesn't belong here..and remember there are many younger people just signing in..who have enough shit to deal with...why should they be exposed to it? And moderators don't simply ban people 'they don't like', they ban members who can't follow simple rules..and delete their abusive posts. Anyone interested can pm me, and i'll forward your name to the webmaster, or you can pm the webmaster yourself. Thanks guys Wink

Excellent post, Maggie. As you know from the PMs we've exchanged I feel concerened about there not being moderators on the site. I'm not sure yet whether I'd be able to be a moderator or not but I certainly share your view about stopping posts that were abusive, racist, sexist, name-calling etc.

It surprises me that there are still threads from five or six months ago that don't belong on SPW. Threads about "hanging the administrators from a tree", telling people to get balls and that sort of thing. At the very least, these threads ought to be in the trash can. Better still they should be removed altogether as they don't serve any purpose other than to intimidate, upset and aggravate people who are vulnerable and have enough to deal with.

Maybe many people couldn't care less about these posts which include Silvio's recent posts. But hopefully sooner or later the old moderators will wake up and smell the diarrhoea!! (Sounds revolting but I couldn't resist that!)

Well done for persisting with this, Maggie. Of course we all need good therapists (and I've yet to find one) but we can't just sit back and let this antagonising shit continue.
