bullying by elderly father

my husband of 27years has bipolar disorder

he was physically and emotionally abused by his father
this old man still keeps manipulating and pressuring him although in my nievity i have trie to explain the damage he does.

the old man now tries to poison my relationship with my husband, painting me as a contolling woman.
every time my husband gets to feeling a little better this OBast rings and heaps another load of guilt or threats re inheritnce etc on him.

when it gets to much it trips a mania and my husband takes off overseas leaving me to deal with the kids finances on my own i often dont know where he is or if he.ll come home

then the OBast rings me demanding that his son calls him

I'm pretty tough but it.s hard enough coping with a BP loved one without this
husband has tried to confront him but this often sets off a flight response

any ideas, i need help

sorry to hear you are going through this, you are obviously very supportive of your husband and don't deserve this. My view is he doesn't deserve your time of day, why are you still in contact with him? Inheritance is nothing to lose compared to your happiness.

If he rings, put the phone down. If he knocks on your door, ignore, or open it and just stand there and let him shout himself hoarse and then tell him you don't want a relationship with him anymore.

These people can't be saved. They are unhappy and they take it out on other people, the weaker the better. Also i thought what is your husband doing taking off to another country and leaving you?! That is not right to run away and make you suffer aswell. I don't mean this in a harsh way but he needs to face up to the problem and deal with it.

but its not my father but my husbands and as i said he cant deal with it as he has bi polar disorder (the panic sets in brain chemicals overload he runs)
I tried to face up to the OBast and have been suffering the consiquenses ever since from the whole family(his)
husband has tried to stick up for me but he cant handle the agro he gets back
