Hi everyone! I was bullied in primary school and secondary school, and allthough i'm in my thirties it still stays with you! The thing that stays with me the most, is the question :
"Why?" This can leave you with an inferiority complex in later life, well it certainly has with me!
I was very introverted when i was younger, the reason being : i'd been sexually abused
(so i already believed i was different to everyone else.) This awful feeling was confirmed when i started getting bullied. I am an attractive, giving, loving, intelligent and caring person, so why the hell do i feel that i'm weird, different to everyone else and never be accepted for who i am?
Can someone simply be a target because they are quiet and introverted? I was never fat, ugly or any of the other reasons people get bullied for? (though off course nobody deserves to be bullied - Everyone is EQUAL!!!!!!!!
X

I guess they do that because... they can. Because they find that you (and me and others) can't fight back or don't want to. Where you and I see goodness, respect and possible friendship, they see an opportunity to feel superior.

It's like pissing off a chained dog or a scared one. They do that because they know he doesn't fight back or he can't.
But here's the thing: even if the dog at some point fights back, they I'll be back to get revenge or just for fun. Because they know that was a limit reaction and not a regular one.

Everybody can see the "window opportunity" of being "superior" to someone. The difference between they and us is that we were well taught that we must not be bad and must be friendly to everyone. The others just forget about it (or never learned it right) because they can build a "bad boy / cool" reputation at our cost.

"Don't do to others what you don't want others do to you."
That's a theory that unfortunately some learn and others don't, or just forget.

So, why don't we just report them to teacher's? Because we know they will do bad things to us. At school or out of it. It can be soon or not.
So, in order to avoid worst things, we just "accumulate" those things and try to avoid contacts with them.

The fact of being fat, wearing glasses, getting good results at exams... is just a big bonus for them, because is just one more good reason to explore. Can be body differences (lack of tolerance by them to us) or qualities (jealousy by them to us because we have good results or have more money).

So, I think it's it. To "survive" bullying is very difficult.... to avoid it: you just have to make a impression from the start and mantain it. But if you are shy/reserved, it's going to be impossible to pretend that even from the start. Sad

bullys r just wankers, people with their own issues who go about it different. some people, like yourselfs go quite when they feel threatened, others get nasty!
no one ever knows the reason. i had this girl try to bully me for no reason what so ever. trip me up and shit, i think coz i was hanging out with her old mates. but u know what dont let people bully ya!

it began to piss me off, so i bullied her for a day, and i made her cry and got called into the heads office etc but she never done it again, infact she said sorry to me!!

dont take it!!

I think the bullying because the byllier is weak is a myth. Really do you think the bad boys are weak?? Those who are big and dare do things that many do not.

When I was at school I was in a really nice one, where everyone was brilliant, beautiful, sporty and happy. No one bullied one another, and I had SEVERE acne and they still didn't bully me. OK, so some of them just ignored me flat... People with LIVES, with stuff that makes them happy, who come from nice families, do NOT bully other people. I mean, it's like the aristocracy saying "geez, I don't even give a damn enough about peasants to humiliate them. Its a waste of my precious time and imagination, its a waste of my voice. Its morbid !!" MEMO: Report bullying as soon as possible, or you will regret it later. Of course this depends on the degree of bullying. If you can insult someone back, and have an effect, do that, or report them if they're dangerous.

To summarise:

Bullies are not the aristicracy. They are bored with their lives, unimaginitive and low-class, they are like New Money versus Old Money. Tragic.

GOOD LUCK AND BIG HUGS X x X

Zappa111 - Yes, i totally agree with you there! Happy people, from good backgrounds
are not likely people to bully others! Maybe it is true that the ones who bully, are very unhappy with themselves, their life and family life! Saying that though, I was a severly unhappy child, but never had the wish to hurt others (i mean, if you know how it feels, why would you want to do it to others?)

There is no reason or logic behind bullying. It can and does happen to everybody.

Both introverts and extroverts get bullied, both men and women, boys and girls.

Everbody is a target Wink
