Ok, right now I'm on 20 mg of Paxil and 30 mg of Buspar. I took the Paxil by itself for 1 month and I really didn't feel a change. Really the only thing that happened was my emotions went away and I couldn't get off. That's pretty pointless since it didn't really help my #1 problem which is severe social anxiety. I went back to my Dr. and she added 30 mg of Buspar. Right now I'm on day 8 and I think it's helping, but I'm not sure. It's hard to tell if it's working or it's the placebo effect.

I'm not sure what to do. In 6 days I have a checkup with my Dr. and I'm not sure what to say to her. To be honest, I don't think the Paxil is doing anything and I'm thinking the best option would be to get off that and stay on Buspar and possibly increase the Buspar dose. But, it's possible the Paxil- Buspar combination is helping too. Actually, I wouldn't mind staying on the Paxil if it didn't screw up my sex drive, but since it is, I'm leaning towards getting off it. Uhhhh, I'm so lost! I guess I'll just tell my Dr this, but I doubt she'll know what to suggest because of my confusion.

Also, I'm also wondering why Buspar would help me so much (if it really is) because I hear so many negative comments about it online. Most people think it sucks. Has anyone had a good experience on Buspar? What are your thoughts on Paxil? Any good? Geez, I'm also anxious to start therapy, so I can have someone to talk to. I really need to rebuild my life! Anyways, any feedback would be great!

Paxil really didn't do anything for me, positively or negatively. But I've since come to the conclusion that meds are dangerous and useless.

As far as therapy goes: you really don't need to wait. I've had success with ACT (acceptance and commitment therapy) using self-help workbooks. Sure it's nice to talk to somebody, but most of the therapy work you'll have to do on your own anyway.

Yeah, I got a book on CBT and started using some of their methods, but I'm still looking forward to therapy.
