Erm. I had a job about a year ago in a shop. Did Till work and stacking sheleves. Was hard but I couldn't talk to the boss very well, plus he was an arse so that didn't help none. Social Phobia wasn't why I quit though.
I've done some volunteer stuff which was okay but I had a hard time holding a conversation with the organizers.

Hi Ulee

I know what you mean.. I went from job to job for 10 years. I suppose if u are not comfortable working around people, then there are jobs out there. Taxi driver, courier, security night shift and to some extent factory worker. I am sure there are a whole list of jobs suited for social phobics. However perhaps it is better to follow your interests and passions then deal with the anxiety as it appears. At least that way u have the interest to start of with. If u enjoy your job it may make u more determined to keep it and thus deal with some aspects of your social phobia. Necessity is the mother of all inventions.. I like to think of it this way. If social phobia was a terminal illness, then perhaps we would be more determined to confront it..

I do volunteer work on my uni holidays, and I help out mentally disabled people. It helps me too, the clients are very honest and innocent and just say the first thing that comes into their minds. The clients dont care if you dont look them in the eye, and they dont think im a wierdo if I freak out a bit or be silent for a while, they are just so happy to see me and overjoyed to spend any amount of time with me. If i go there every week day for a few weeks then by the end of my time there I notice improvements in myself. I know its not for everyone but it helps me.

Well I like going to the gym, not much risk of having to speak to people ther but I would like to as there are loads of nice attractive women who work out too. I also have been studying Kung Fu for 6 years. I've always wanted to learn a Martial Art but I was always intimidated by all the people there but I managed to go to this one class by phoning before. I just had this determination to go. As well as this i have tried Yoga classes where I was the only guy. But I do tend to stay away from really demanding jobs where I might have to deal with people. I like jobs where I am working on my own and don't have to use the phone. My present job I spend days never talking to anyone but the thing is I want to talk to people but its so hard as its a habit I have developed.
