Hi there!
I suffered from this disorder for a very long period of time. Then trie vitamin B6 and now I am as confident as the next person. I promise. I t changed my self consciousness completely.
Take about 4 times the recommended daily allowance, and see if it works for you.
It is safe and you cant overdose b/c it is water soluble.
Please, please let me know if it works for you, as it would help me to help other people.
Good luck!

hi there!
well, you should buy a vitamin b-complex + a magnesium supplement + zinc supplement
every day, after food, take the vit b, half the recomm daily allowance of magnesium and a 15 mg zinc supplement.
the herbal remedy called black cohosh i also find helpful, although herbal remedies are very individual things and it may not suit you. buy it in tincture form.
some people find the homeopathic remedy- pulsatilla good but it may interfere wiht your sleep patterns
if you suffer from low blood sugar like i used to then, you might like to try dandelion root capsules as a supplement. it is superb at preventing this.
Would really appreciate any feedback!!!
g'luck

Really, it works? I might try it! I'm just a bit cynical that it's just like a placebo effect, if you know what I mean. Sorry, I don't doubt you Catherine.

tell me how you feel and what exactly did you take and how many times per day did you take it. I do not like placebo so if this is a placebo attempt it will not work for me at all. Thanks.

Vitamin B6, along with Vitamin B3 and B12 have been proven to help relieve symptomatic anxiety. If you are going to try VB, then you might want to look into a combintion formula. Someone mentioned Zinc and magnesium, which are also reported as being a good way to help.
I have been reading clinical studies for natural therapies for about a month now and there is some real potential here.
If taking Vitamin B, try combining it with Vitamin C, 5HTP and hypericum extract with a 3% or more hyperforin content. All of these ingredients working together will help to promote positive balance in serotonin and norepinephrine which many consider to be a key factor in anxiety related symptoms.
The theory goes, that during times of stress, especially in social situations, the norepinephrine and serotonin in your body will not be released in a unbalanced amount and will be more or less "controlled" thus helping to thwart those extreme feelings of panic.
I "experimented" with magnesium lactate, 50 mg 3 times a day. It is a mirracle, the anxiety disappears, also the kind of hyperactivity has been calmed down. The overdosis of vit. B complex did not help me significantly. I have been taking magnesium for about two years. Its influence has stabilised after the first 2 weeks, when it was even better. Now I can feel when I need another pill of Mg, I become unconcentrated and a bit anxious. After taking one, in 30 minutes I feel the difference.
Since last week I have tried to replace Mg with zinc (10 mg/tbl.) I have never taken Zinc before and feel much better than with Magnesium. The ratio between Mg and Zn is to be explored ...

Catherine, how long does it take until the anxiety reduces after you start taking the supplements?
I am taking Vitamin B Complex (has the RDA for all the B vitamins - one a day), Vitamin B6 (50mg tablets 3 times a day after meals), Vitamin B1 (50mg tablets 3 times a day), 2000mg of vitamin C a day, and Finally,
15MG of Zinc a day (100%RDA) because I fear that overdosing a metal can be toxic and have side affects.

taking more than 100 mg of vitamin b6 per day can cause "overdose neuropathy syndrome", a problem of the nerves including "bone pains, muscle weakness, numbness"...
taken from:
"A newly recognised neurotoxic syndrome due to pyridoxine (B6) overdose is described. It is the largest series of B6 intoxication hitherto reported. A raised serum B6 level was present in 172 women of whom 60% had neurological symptoms, which disappeared when B6 was withdrawn and reappeared in 4 cases when B6 was restarted. The mean dose of B6 in the 103 women with neurological symptoms was 117 +/- 92 mgs, compared with 116.2 +/- 66 mgs in the control group. There was a significant difference (P less than 0.01) in the average duration of ingestion of B6 in the neurotoxic group of 2.9 +/- 1.9 years compared with 1.6 +/- 2.1 years in controls. The symptoms were paraesthesia, hyperaesthesia, bone pains, muscle weakness, numbness and fasciculation, most marked on the extremities and predominantly bilateral unless there was a history of previous trauma to the limb. These women were taking a lower dose of B6 than previously described (1,2), which may account for the complete recovery within 6 months of stopping B6."
