If any of you are looking for a job, let me suggest working as a home health aide for the elderly. First off, they are so concerned with their own ailments to focus on what’s going on with me emotionally. I can just baby them and ask them about themselves and they just go on and on. It’s nice when someone else does the talking. But it’s important to ask them the right questions that really get them going. ie their family. This is great exposure therapy plus you would be doing good for society. The majority of the people I see are good people…lived good lives and now just need to be taken care of. I know not everybody could do this line of work but it’s worth a try if you feel like graduating to the next step…that is if you are currently not working. Plus...very humbling...if you can handle it.

I spent almost a year living on my own without work (credit cards Shocked Very Happy ) And now I have met about 20 elderly people not including their family members.

Let me just mention that I find it easier making house calls rather than being cooped up in a hospital. There is a lot of freedom in it and you won’t be stuck with one person all day. Plus you get paid for your mileage and driving time. I’m going to stick with this job until I feel confident enough to finish speech class…thus getting my degree and then eventually applying to graduate school.

Just thought I’d throw the home health aide thing out there. Does anyone else have a good job for exposure therapy?

I 've got one.

I work at the grocery store. I see thousands of people. Iam not rich' but the area around my home; where I go to work; is a very wealthy part of Tampa Bay Florida USA.

I talk to plenty of millioniars and celeberitys (mainly sport stars and business owners). This is a major accomplishment for me considering that I have Social Anxity.

Most of our customers are wealthy house wives who can aford to stay home all day while their husbands are at work or out on buisness trips. If they have kids; their kids are in school all day, or have moved away from home.

Anyway they get board being locked up in their fancy homes and shop all day long. After a while; I saw them so often that I decided to kill 3 birds with one stone.

I decided to get some much needed practice/ make friends/ plus help the store by bringing in more business for the store.

I would tell them that "I see them so often that they should be on the payroll".. or "that they should get the keys to the store."

The strange thing is that I have become extremely well known throught out the neighborhood even tho I could never aford to live there. Customer now go out their way to come down my isle. If iam bagging grocery they will change lane just to go throught my line.

I tried flirting with the various customers but that worked too well. These people are maried you know. lol

The scaries moments are when I turn on the tv or read a magazines and I realize who I've been talking to all along! Most high profile people look ordiany when they go to buy food. Once in a while when I am getting shopping carts I might see them going or coming in their fancy toys but in side the store they look ordiany.

Overall I am still not completely cured but I've came a long way compared to the old me.

Oh and I have also had the worst job for exposure.
Subterrainen Realestate I don't recomend it.

I work in a grocey store too, actually! I've been there for over a year now. It's helped me a lot, I will say. There are a lot of things you absolutely have to do that you can't just hide from anymore. The largest thing that's improved for me is speaking even if a lot of people are going to hear me. Also, I don't spend forever agonizing over mistakes. I get past those much faster. I won't say that I am that great or anything, because I'm not. A lot of the time I can't speak up to customers who are too far away, and the people I work with know me as shy and quiet. But not uncapable. I've learned to do things for myself.

I was scared to death this morning. My manager chose ME to go to a different store to help them with their reopening. As a Sales Specialist. Selling. why me? I don't know....but, I went, terrified to death. It wasn't that bad, it went well. But not only was I expected to be able to sell, but I had to get used to a whole new store and meet and get along with all new people. That sounded like hell. It wasn't so bad though....wasn't so bad. Sometimes I hate to tell things because I feel like I am making it worse, but.... some of the big bosses came by and observed our selling. He stood there and watched while I spoke to a customer. I heard him clearly say, "she has got to work for us." Oh man. I was talking all day long today, and it was my only job.

I'm making this sound better than it is. I think a grocery store is a good place for someone to start out at....especially for a teenager like me. Like Tampa said, repeat customers are good to get along with. Customers are good practice. You know, you have to talk to them, but then they are gone.

My job is actually the place where SA bothers me the most. It's where I feel the most miserable, and feel like I am worth nothing. Sometimes. But, I know it's also taught me a lot. I am able to do things now that I wouldn't be able to do without it.
