Hello people, i've joined this forum because i've been feeling so low and worthless lately that i don't see much point in living anymore.
I've suffered from hyperhidrosis since my late teens (i'm 26 now) and it has completely ruined my life.
I have my own place and an ok(ish) job but single and very lonely.
I feel myself burning up when in hot rooms and sweat pours from my face.
I've been to the doctors millions of times to be told that nothing can be done and i once lost my temper and kicked the bin and stormed out of his surgery.
hey dude know how you feel this is a horrible depressing condition to have
what have you tried ? have you tried any oral medications ? I have just found one in UK which is a first after 4 yrs and working quite well for me so u never know something may work for u still youve not tried
Don't be so down on yourself, HH is a horrible social condition, but at least its not life threatening. There are many people who suffer the same out there and as Ralphy said, there are options out there for you.
Perhaps you need to speak with a different doctor (there are some good websites links from this forum, just look around) who understands or specializes this condition. I've never personally tried oral medication but I see from browsing the forum that it has worked for many people with your condition. I have really bad palmer / planter HH and itonpherosis has worked well for me.
Remember too that curing your HH will not automatically translate to an instant cure for problems in your life - loneliness. You will still need the courage to reach out to socially (albeit without sweat dripping) and I'm sure you'll find that the people who respond to your friendship and those who you naturally click with would treat you the same whether you had HH or not.
take care and I hope you'll try out some medications to see if they work.
Sorry, but I have to contradict BellBottoms on this. Definitely leave out any medications. Eating chemicals will not fix it, on the contrary.
HH can be very complex, but the reasons for most HH are usually quite simple. Realizing whatīs causing YOUR HH, might not be what you expected. Itīs important to understand, that sweating is completely natural, and important to our metabolism, although it may be annoying.
So when is sweating excessive and necessary to treat?
I usually get a lot of flak about this, but being overweight creates HH, usually because overweight people overdress.
Wearing the wrong sort of clothes emphasize the problem: Cotton really isnīt good for people who sweat, neither are artificial fibres. Smart shoes are usually useless.
If your excessive sweating qualifies as HH, there are only a few really good remedies, and I would study Pinkerīs list, if you want to get a good overview, but if you want my opinion, forget about surgeons and expensive treatments and medications. Even botox solutions are not really that effective in other respects than cleaning out your wallet.
Iontoforesis and simple aluminum chloride based topicals are the only good and practical solutions.

you are a dick mate and obviously don't have a clue what you are talking about ...your comments are actually laughable they are so stupid
oh yeh obviously HH is caused by something isnt it which we can find out and fix doctors, research etc have never found the root problem of HH otherwise everyone would be able to fix it ...
u think aluminium chloride products are the best for HH...do u even have fucking HH to start with...have u even tried these products...odaban, driclor etc etc they are a cunt to use as they sting like fck, hard to sleep on, often leave your skin irritated, your body becomes immune to them...yes this maybe my experience of them but is plenty of others aswell and using those products is only a temporary solution and a cuntish one at that having to often use daily
botox is a great option if it works for u....I have experience of this myself and so have many others..yes may hurt having done but so what it lasts for while and u can get on with things having to worry not so much for few months...that is great in my opinion...and u talk of cleaning out your wallett...u heard of the NHS (if in uk) is free ...
oral meds have just started working for me...best thing that has worked for me in 4 years in having HH and trying everything I can before surgery so dont tell others not to try them when they are looking for something that works
basically u talk shit ...come back when u know what your talking about and dont hand out shit advice
I'm sorry for your depression. It wasn't long ago that I was in your shoes. There are a lot of treatments available on this forum. Have you tried any of the following treatments?

I tend to view 2 sites on this topic. This one and the esfb channel. A few years back I recall someone named Hyper-Hydro being banned from one of these, I don't recall which site, for offensive and abusive posts. Posts that were not helpful. The name may be a coincidence and if so I apologise for mentioning it.
What I do know is that Probanthine helps me and I urge you all to try different solutions that may help you individually. No one on here is experienced enough to stipulate what is and isn't a cure or worthwhile trying. We all have different symptons and degrees of HH and what works for one will not work for another. But none of us can dismiss a remedy that clearly does work for some and is worth consideration for others.
Dear teandtoast. Thanks for your remarkably sharp analysis of my situation. Youīve clearly read the bulk of my insignificant posts and understand the scope of it to the core, at a much higher level than me, in spite of your only 4 years of experience with excessive sweating. Iīm very grateful that you have taken your grace to step down to my level, exposing my pitiful superficial person.
I skimmed the surface of the ocean of your own extensive and most impressing resources here at Social Phobia World, to get a hint of what might be the origin of your vast human insight and wit. But Iīm foundering at whether it may be, that youīre still living with your mother in between your week-end drinking binges, or the fact that you donīt eat anything throughout the day, which has caused your unique intellect to arise. Sir, I am in awe at the powers of your observation. Are you 20-33 % over, or are you in the distinctly obese category though ? Do you have your type 2 diabecy diagnosed yet? The descriptions of your life style in mind, merely a question of time I should think.
Donīt even consider ETS if you want to hear my point of view. I tried it, when I was as desperate as you. I had no good experience with sleek surgeons passing time away from the country club. And sweet, desolate Ralphy, may you regain the lust for life soon. If from the murky pit of your navel, you could look beyond the ranges in the horizon but for a moment only, you might read my first post in this string again, and see that I was making an innocent general point, rather than commenting on your specific case. Unlike someone else in here, you might also do me the favour of taking your own excellent advice, rather than steep in malicious choice of words.
There is certainly hope. I believe there could be a solution in reviewing and recombining diet. Atleast I found that some of my own uncontrollable sweating is connected to my choice of foods. E.g. even the mildest chili can make me sweat uncontrollably, and certain fruits e.g. apples can also provoke sweat on my forehead, although they donīt always, so it may be down to which species of apples I eat. Painstaking registry of what you eat, studying food declarations and learning about nutrition could be a way ahead. Iīm not trying to diagnose anybody, and Iīm not making this comment with any specific focus on your situation though, so relax ok? Cheer up, spring is coming.
Bill-uk, thanks for your post about things you donīt recall, but which you nevertheless seem to think have a bearing on this string. If you want to have an understanding of what is it youīre writing about, you can find all the original posts from ESFB channel posted in this forum, including the posts ED at ESFB deleted to cover up for themselves. I donīt intend to discuss those posts with you or anyone else though. I made the information available for people in this forum to make their own assessment of ESFB channel.
