I think we fear people because we believe that they have something that we MUST have...especially their good opinions of us. I used to worry excessively about what others thought about me. This obsession affected every area of my life. As I have matured and grown in wisdom, I have switched my focus from "what do others think about me" to "what makes me happy". By focusing on what makes you happy, you love and honor that little child whithin, making him/her feel important. As a result, you give yourself what you previously expected others to give you.
