Just wondering if anyone thinks talking to yourself could be a catalyst for your depression/sa. Earlier at work I was talking to myself, felt like crap, so I stopped, started focusing on other things, and my mood actually lifted v quickly, I soon got bored and went back to work. I am going to stop myself now if I start talking to myself, I literally end up talking myself into getting depressed most of the time.

I do it most in bed, going to sleep and waking up, and I always seem to feel more miserable at these times. I don't think it's a coincidence Confused

I swear at myself when I make a mistake or make a fool out of myself but never really talk to myself. What kinds of things do you talk to yourself about?

yeah...i find myself doing this all the time as well. I beat myself up over details of everything. Sometimes I find myself kinda playing out scenarios in my head...always the worst possible outcome...normally i dont even realize it at first, but after a few minutes of doing this i realize it and get mad at myself even more for doing it. I also find it the worst at night...I try to conciously think of something happy and good rather than just trying to think of nothing because that just never works for me, but I always find myself slipping into playing out scenarios in my mind of stuff thats bad.

positive affirmations are not good. Because then you will have no need to develop yourself if you are so content with your current situation.

Talking to your self is not good or bad. It's what you're saying to your self that matters. Some time I say good thing to my self and sometimes I say bad thing to my self.

I talk to myself all the time. I get better answers when talking to myself, than when talking to others anyway. Razz

does it affect your sleeping too, like you can't sleep at night because your mind is going crazy and you feel so tired in the morning... yeah that happens to me too
