Question about Clonazepam

My Doc prescribed a low dose of Clonazepam (.5 mg) as needed to help with situational anxiety which I may use once or twice a month. It seems to help some but the following day after taking it, it seems that I am very irritible. Is this typical with Clonazepam?

i take the exact same thing .5 mg of clonazepam. If you only take it once or twice a month i don't see why it's making you irritable, usually the irribility thing comes with taking too much or getting mildy addicticted to it. It really helps me out alot i couldn't function without it like at the gym, work , any kind of social situation almost . Klonopin isn't magic but it is a nice tool to have to deal with social events.

Clonazepam comes in 0.5,1,2mg strengths. The typical starting dose is 0.5mg x 2 a day or 0.25mgs x 3 a day. If one wants to use it PRN (as needed) they can take a higher dose like 1mg at a time. Irritability doesnt sound like its from Clonazepam if you only take it a couple times a month.

Maybe its the feeling of not having the medication I your system. Things are easier to deal with when you take it, but when you don't take it you get frustrated at your "natural" psychological state.
I get that feeling sometimes when I don't take Xanax for a while, take it and then realise afterwards that I am going to have to deal with **** on my own again.

It seems that you dont take it near often enough to become "addicted" to it.

For some people (aboot 30%), Klonopin can make them depressed and/or irratable. I would say you are probably one of these people.

I suggest switching to another benzo like Xanax or Ativan as neither of these drugs are associated with worsening depressive symptoms.

I used Klonopin for 2 years and I only became irritable once I was withdrawing from it.

I am on .5mg of klonopin(generic) and I dont get irritable..I found that 1 pill does nothing for me though and so i take 2 when I feel I need it..the doc told me to take it every morning once aday with my zoloft but after a week or so of doing this I found i would run out of it before i "really needed" it ...I like it alot ..it helped me to go out in the day time again..and now i am used to going out in the day time to where i dont need it...I only use it If i am going somewhere now where I will be interacting/talking with people. Like my appointment today at 4pm.

I take it 2-3 times a day. It helps and if I were to stop then I think it's possible I would have horrible problems with the outside world at least for a while. It does help a lot though.

I take it as prescribed and don't do anything stupid like taking 2-3 pills at a time. If you do take more than suggested, there is a tolerance factor that will catch up with you. So follow the doctor's orders. I take 1mg tablets though, not .5mg tablets.

There was a time in my life where they prescribed clonazepam for me as needed like you are doing now. I'm way more successful with the outside world now that I've been on this dosage for about 2-3 years.

Do you take an anti-depressant with it? That could be the problem.
