As long as it calms your OCD down, it's better than nothing.

One way of proving to yourself that it's the OCD is by looking at your day. You said it was stressful, so your OCD was worse and all those feelings were worse, right? I don't blame you for quitting if your that worried, but try a therapist or medicine first.
When your at work you can also try to focus on other things, or even come up with little stories all day. Do you like cars? Maybe think about what you'd like to do with yours, or one you'd like to own. Sometimes it passes time for me or helps stave off OCD, so maybe you could try that.
