Religious support?

Has anyone considered, if they are religiously inclined, to undergo more prayers/meditation etc, to help with anxiety?

I think there is a balance between religious and contemporary practices that can help with anxiety but I don't see myself as practising (very far from that!) but I'd be open to it but just need encouraging - maybe my wife who is far from religious, could help.

Prayer can be a form of meditation, which has been known to soothe inner turmoil. "Let go and let God" is a common refrain in some religious circles. Turning your troubles over to a higher power can make them seem less fearsome and easier to manage. The catch is that you have to truly believe. It's easy to fool others with false religious fervor—just look at any stinking rich televangelist—but you're never going to fool your own subconscious mind.

If you dont see yourself following or believing a religion then you could probably employ something thats more a philosophy. Ive met some that use Buddhist philosophies along with meditation and yoga to help center themselves. They didnt have SA but they tried more than once to get me into it. I tried meditation for a little while with this group in school and it can help but its takes practice. Because if youre like me and get easily distracted its hard to really clear your mind. Id have moments when Id get into that zen mode and others where my brain wouldnt shut up. I should really get back into it because it can be fun.

Also commitment. You have to be consistent with your prayers and genuinely giving it a go and allowing time. Turning your troubles over etc, sounds like something that I could accept and might help me.

Yes. Prayer and the bible is the only thing that has helped me with my anxiety.
I have been severely depressed and God is the only one that has helped me so far. It's really helpful :)
